Hironmoyee Chatterjee | HENB | New Delhi | May 24, 2025:: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced that illegal Bangladeshi nationals living in India will be dealt with according to the law. With over 2,360 cases pending deportation, India has urged Bangladesh to expedite nationality verification to facilitate the return of these individuals. On Thursday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated in his weekly briefing that a significant number of Bangladeshi nationals in India are subject to deportation.
Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have a large number of Bangladeshi nationals in India who are required to be deported.”
The Issue of Illegal Immigration
Illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, including Rohingyas, have been a longstanding concern in India. Many are accused of creating security threats, engaging in smuggling, human trafficking, and prostitution. Despite the issue’s severity, little action was taken in the past.
A New Development
Following the Pahalgam Hindu massacre, the issue of deporting illegal Bangladeshi Muslims has gained momentum in some BJP ruled states only. But, this serious matter was put behind in the last 10 yeras of Modi Government. Senior BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay who is also a reputed advocate had filed a petition in the Supreme Court earlier seeking the expulsion of an estimated 5 crore illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators/ immigrants.
The Way Forward
While the initiative to remove illegal immigrants is a step in the right direction, its implementation remains to be seen. Will India successfully deport these immigrants, or is it just a political gesture? The outcome will have significant implications for the country’s immigration policy and security.
The Numbers
– Over 2,360 cases pending deportation
– Estimated 5 crore illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in India (as per Ashwini Upadhyay’s petition)
– Many cases pending nationality verification since 2020
International conspiracy against India
As a part of International conspiracy against India, Infiltration Jihad has been launched by the Bangladesh Islamist groups to capture India by defeating the Hindu majority. Such havoc illegal Muslim infiltration is one of the most dangerous causes for a fast demographic change in India.
The MEA’s Stance
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that people staying in India illegally, regardless of nationality, will be dealt with according to the law. The government is working to expedite the deportation process, but the challenge lies in verifying the nationality of these individuals.
