Upendra Bharti | HENB | Mumbai | June 3, 2025:: Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane’s recent remarks on Bakri Eid have ignited a firestorm of controversy, with Muslim leaders accusing him of hate speech and violating the Constitution. Rane’s comments, made in the run-up to the festival of sacrifice, have been deemed “incendiary” and “communally charged” by critics.
The Controversy
Rane allegedly stated that the ‘Hindutva Wadi’ government would take strict action against lawbreakers, hinting at a ban on cow slaughter in a “Hindu Rashtra”. This comment has drawn flak from the Muslim community, who view it as an attempt to impose Hindu nationalist ideology on other religions. The timing of the comments, just before Bakri Eid, has added fuel to the fire. Muslims in India try to hurt the Hindu sentiment by killing a large scale of cow progeny during Bakri Eid openly violating the anti-Slaughter acts or rules in force state to state.
Reportedly, Rane had commented before the media, saying that the ‘Hindutva Wadi’ government would open its ‘third eye’ and give lawbreakers their due. Bakri Eid, the festival of sacrifice, is scheduled to be celebrated between June 6 and 7. Rane recently made the comment at a Hindu Jan Aakrosh Rally Rally in Solapur.
Muslim Leaders React
Advocate Abid Abbas Sayyed has filed a formal complaint seeking registration of an FIR against Rane, citing “hate speech” and undermining of the country’s secular ethos. Sayyed’s representation seeks the registration of FIR, initiation of Chapter Proceedings, and constitutional sanction to prosecute Rane for hate speech and dereliction of constitutional duties. “We will not tolerate such divisive rhetoric,” said Haji Siraj Mohammad, former corporator. “Islam asks us to respect other religions. We will follow the Constitution. We appeal to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to dismiss Rane from the post because he has violated the Constitution with his remarks.”
Support from Hindu Quarters
However, Rane’s comments have received significant support from Hindu groups, who see his statements as a call to protect Hindu values and traditions. Upananda Brahmachari, a Hindu interlocutor and proponent of a Cultural, Constitutional, and Sovereign Hindu Rashtra, has supported Rane and demanded strict action against cow killers during Bakri Eid.
Rane is Right. Hindu Sentiment cannot be hurt by killing cows openly on Bakri Eid.

Constitutional Implications
The controversy surrounding Rane’s comments raises important questions about the role of politicians in promoting communal harmony. As a minister, Rane has sworn to uphold the Constitution, which emphasizes secularism and respect for all religions. Critics argue that his comments have undermined these principles, potentially creating divisions between communities.
Article 48 of Indian Constitution directs the States to prohibit the killing of useful cow progeny in order to protect those. But the selective secular elements and Islamist morons ignore this constitutional provisions of Cow Protection in Indian Constitution.
The Way Forward
As the controversy continues to simmer, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to the allegations against Rane. Will they take action against the minister, or will they let his comments slide? One thing is certain: the debate sparked by Rane’s comments will continue to rage on, highlighting the complex dynamics of religious and cultural identity in India.
