Ghaziabad Erupts in Violence: Hindutva Mob Sets Truck Ablaze Over Illigal Beef Transportation, Two Muslims Arrested.

Upendra Bharti  | HENB | New Delhi | June 5, 2025:: A disturbing incident of mob violence unfolded in Ghaziabad’s Amrala village on Tuesday, June 3, as a Hindutva group attacked a truck allegedly transporting beef, leaving the vehicle in flames and the Muslim driver and cleaner severely thrashed. The incident has sparked widespread concern about the rising tide of vigilantism and communal tensions in the region.

The Incident

According to eyewitnesses, Hindu Yuva Vahini leader Neeraj Sharma and Bajrang Dal leader Madhur Nehra received a tip about a truck transporting beef around 9 pm. Armed with this information, the right-wing workers, accompanied by local villagers, intercepted the truck near Amrala village and conducted a search. Upon allegedly finding a large quantity of beef, the mob vandalized the vehicle, set it ablaze, and brutally assaulted the driver and cleaner, Imran and Waseem.

Videos and Witness Accounts

Videos circulating on social media depict a jubilant mob cheering and chanting inflammatory slogans, including “bohat badhiya” (well done), “desh ke gaddaron ko, goli maaro saalon ko” (shoot the traitors of the country), and “police prashasan murdabad” (down with the police administration). Witnesses claim that the mob’s rampage continued despite the presence of police personnel, with additional reinforcements being dispatched from Modinagar and Niwadi police stations to control the chaos.

Police Action

Station House Officer (SHO) Amit Sharma confirmed that Imran and Waseem have been taken into custody and that lab testing of the meat samples revealed the presence of cowhide. Based on a complaint filed by Bajrang Dal leader Madhur Nehra, an FIR has been lodged against the driver and cleaner under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS).

Investigation Underway

The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged transportation of beef and the violent response of the Hindutva mob. While the authorities have taken action against the truck driver and cleaner, questions are being raised about the role of the Hindutva groups involved in the incident and the extent of police complicity.

Concerns About Communal Tensions

The Ghaziabad incident has sparked concerns about the rising communal tensions in the region and the growing trend of vigilantism. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen how the authorities will address the underlying issues and ensure that justice is served.

Though there are strict provisions in Anti-Cow Slaughter Act in Uttar Pradesh, the Muslim smugglers try to make illegal cow trafficking and slaughter during Baker Eid in large scale which hurts the Hindu sentiments grossly. As an effect such Hindu retaliations are bound to happen.
