On June 8, a group of fanatic Muslims allegedly destroyed the homes of Hindu families belonging to the Haridas community, looting their belongings and leaving them with nothing.

The Incident

According to reports, the trouble began when Muslim extremists put up signboards declaring the area as property of ‘Janab Ali Markajun Nur Al Islamiya Madrasa’, in an apparent attempt to encroach upon the kash land/ vested land where the Hindu families have lived for over 50 years. When the Hindu families complained to the local police, the situation escalated, and the Muslim mob launched a series of targeted attacks, razing at least five houses to the ground.

Somoy National brought attention to the incident through its video report on June 13.

Eyewitness Accounts

Victims of the attack described the horrific scenes of violence and looting. “We had filed a complaint with the police. They (Muslim mob) came on Sunday and destroyed our three other homes,” one Hindu man said. A Hindu woman, who was assaulted along with her husband, recounted the traumatic experience.

Aftermath

The attack has left the Hindu families without shelter or possessions, forcing them to sleep under the open sky. A police complaint has been filed, and the local administration has assured action against the culprits. However, no arrests have been made so far.
