Hindu Minority Under Siege, Bangladesh’s Rangpur District Erupts in Violence, Students of Dhaka University Organise Torch Rally in Protest.

Shubhro Basak | HENB | Dhaka | July 30, 2025:: On July 29, 2025 (8 pm), the students of Jagannath Hall in Dhaka University, mostly Hindu minority students, organized a human chain and torch rally in protest of an attack on July 26, 2025, at Betgari Union, Gangachara Upazila, Rangpur district, Bangladesh. Radical Muslim extremists had handed over an innocent Hindu teenager, Dhananjay Roy, to the police on the pretext of falsely insulting Islam religion, accusing him of blasphemy. The next day, on July 27, 2025, at 2 pm, radical extremists gathered in a public meeting and attacked, vandalized, looted, and harassed 15 Hindu houses, including Dhananjay Roy’s house, while the police allegedly played a silent role. A dozen  of Hindu families were compelled to  leave their homes in order to move to a safe place with their belongings.

The Hindu community in Betgari is terrified, worried, and suffering from insecurity. There are concerns about extreme anarchy, human rights violations, and the rule of law. According to available reports, on last Saturday noon, an angry Muslim mob, on false allegations of criticizing Islamic Prophet Hazrat Mohammad on Facebook, attacked Hindu houses and shops twice in Gangachara within Rangpur district, looting movable properties. The police arrested the 17-year-old Hindu boy in this connection.

Havoc in Rangpur

According to reports, 15 Hindu houses were attacked at Betgazi Union of Gangachara Upazila. The Muslim mob, violating the peaceful procession assembled at Khilaogonj Area, started vandalizing valuable articles and looting movable goods belonging to Hindus on the grudge of blasphemy against Islamic culture. Due to this horrific situation, police, army, and law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot, trying to pacify the prevailing situation, which was beyond control. Houses of Dhoroni Kanta Mohonta, Dhononjoy Kumar, Atul Chandra, Kamola Kanta, Dulal Chandra and many others were badly damaged and ransacked due to vandalism.

Another false blasphemy charge in Barisal

In another disturbing incident has unfolded in Gournadi Upazila of Barisal district in Bangladesh, where a Thouhidi Janata (fanatic Muslim Mo) handed over a 20-year-old Hindu youth, Saikat Biswas, to the local police on Tuesday. The mob accused Saikat of defaming Islam with derogatory remarks, an allegation that appears to be false.

When contacted, the police were reluctant to provide detailed information about the incident, sparking concerns about transparency and the handling of the case.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by minority communities in Bangladesh, particularly in cases involving allegations of concocted blasphemy in utter conjecture. The situation underscores the need for fair and impartial investigations to ensure justice is served.

The attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh have crossed all limits during the interim Yunus government after the ouster of the elected Sheikh Hasina government in August, 2024. Actually, Jamat and Touhidi people are allegedly controlling the interim Government in Bangladesh, targeting Hindu minorities.

In the Dhaka University torch rally, the Hindu students of Jagannath Hall demanded an end to attacks and atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is rapidly turning into an Islamic terror state controlled by Touhidi and Jamat elements.
