Dharmasthala Controversy: A Conspiracy Against Hindus, Truth Revealed, Complainant Arrested, Sujata Bhat’s U-Turn.  

B Upendran | HENB | Bengaluru | Aug 25, 2025:: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged murders, rapes, and burials in  Dharmasthala, Karnataka, has arrested the complainant, C.N. Chinnaiah, who had alleged that he was forced to bury several bodies, including those of women and minors, in the temple town over the past two decades. The SIT found several inconsistencies in Chinnaiah’s statements and documents, leading to his arrest.

Dharmasthala  is an important temple town on the banks of the Nethravathi River in the taluk of Belthangady of the Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, which is a prominent place of Hindu pilgrimage. The centuries-old Sri Manjunatha Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is  situated in Dharmasthala which is also known for its large statue of the revered figure Bahubali.Now it is clear that a conspiracy was orchestrated by anti-Hindu forces to defame Hindus and Hindu Dharma by citing false cases of murders, rapes, and burials in Dharmasthala.

The Investigation

The SIT, led by Pranab Mohanty, had been investigating Chinnaiah’s allegations since June 29, when it started exhuming suspected human remains in a forested area near the Netravati bathing ghat. The operation was launched in the presence of Chinnaiah, who had pinpointed specific locations allegedly used for illegal burials. But, nothing was recovered according to the claims of the complainant.  Some scanty skeletal remains (may be of animals) were recovered from two locations.

Sujata Bhat’s U-Turn

In a surprising turn of events, Sujata Bhat, who had earlier claimed that her daughter, Ananya Bhat, went missing after a trip to Dharmasthala in 2003, has now stated that she never had a daughter. She claimed that she was provoked by Girish Mattannavar and others to make a false complaint.

Demand to Dissolve SIT

Hindutva activist Chakravarti Sulibele has demanded the dissolution of the SIT, saying that the effort is yielding no results. He has also warned that if the SIT is not dissolved, it will face people’s ire. According to Sulibele, Karnataka’s Hindus will no longer tolerate the humiliation of Hinduism perpetrated by the ruling Congress party and anti-Hindu groups in the state.

YouTuber Under Scanner

The police have also issued a notice to YouTuber M.D. Sameer, who is under the scanner of the SIT, and ordered him to appear before the investigating officer. Sameer faces criminal charges over content related to the Dharmasthala case. Sameer had uploaded a video making allegations linked to the case, which authorities claim amounted to provocation and the spread of misinformation.
