CJI’s Mother, Kamaltai Gavai, Rejects RSS’s Vijayadashami Program, Denouncing Hindutva.

Ambedkarite Defiance: Kamaltai Gavai Rejects RSS Outreach For Hindutva Conspiracy.

Hridya Bharti | HENB | Amaravati | Oct 1, 2025:: In a significant development, Kamaltai Gavai, mother of Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, has rejected reports of accepting an invitation to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Vijayadashami event in Amravati. The controversy surrounding the alleged invitation has sparked a wave of speculation, rebuttal, and political interpretation, highlighting the ideological fault lines that continue to shape India’s public discourse.

The RSS’s invitation to Kamaltai Gavai was confirmed by its functionaries, but her categorical rejection, reportedly conveyed through a handwritten letter, has sparked intense speculation, rebuttal, and political interpretation. This episode raises a fundamental question: What motivated the RSS to seek an association with a staunch Ambedkarite family, and what does this reveal about its evolving outreach strategy?

Kamaltai  has rejected the RSS’s Vijayadashami program invitation, citing her commitment to Ambedkarite ideology and the Indian Constitution. In a handwritten letter, she described the reports of her attendance as “completely false” and “RSS propaganda”. She emphasized that participating in the event would “harm social consciousness” and reiterated her family’s commitment to constitutional values

The Purported Letter

The letter attributed to Kamaltai Gavai states: “The recently published news about my presence in the program of the S.S. Vijayadashami program… is completely false… I will never attend the upcoming program of the RSS in Amravati… Without taking written consent, this is an RSS conspiracy.”

The purported letter states: “The recently published news about my presence in the program of the S. S. Vijayadashami program on 05 October at 6:30 pm organized at Smt. Narasamma Mahavidyalaya Maidan is completely false. Shri Dadasaheb Gavai, Founder President of Charitable Trust, imbued with Ambedkarite thoughts. Since my family is always honest to the Constitution of the country, I will never attend the upcoming program of the RSS in Amravati. I will not allow any kind of pain to the social consciousness……Without falling victim to propaganda or news, I condemn and condemn the news published through this statement. My Ambedkarite fellows should take note of this and trust me. Take me into your trust. Without taking written consent, this is an RSS conspiracy.”

The Controversy

The confusion deepened when Rajendra Gavai, Kamaltai’s younger son, initially claimed she had accepted the invitation, citing past precedents set by his father. However, his later retraction—expressing support for his mother regardless of her decision—added ambiguity. The media’s role in amplifying unverified claims has also been called into question, highlighting the challenges of reporting in a polarized environment.

Hindu Reaction to Gavai Family’s RSS Invitation

The proposed participation of Kamaltai Gavai, mother of Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, in the RSS’s Vijayadashami function in Amaravati has sparked opposition from various Hindu organizations. Given the Gavai family’s history of advocating for Ambedkarite principles, which often intersect with anti-Hindutva sentiments, many Hindus have expressed reservations about their presence at the event.

This opposition has been further fueled by CJI (Chief Justice of India) B.R. Gavai’s recent remarks about Lord Vishnu [1] [2] in the Supreme Court, which is outrightly interpreted as anti-Hindu. As a result, there is growing discontent among Hindu groups about the Gavai family’s potential presence at a prominent Hindu function organized by the RSS.

The Rejection

Kamaltai Gavai’s categorical rejection of the invitation, reportedly conveyed through a handwritten letter, has sent a strong message. She not only denies accepting any invitation but also frames the reports as part of a “false conspiracy” and “RSS propaganda.” Her emphasis on Ambedkarite ideology and constitutional commitment is not merely a personal declaration—it is a political assertion.

The RSS Outreach Strategy

The RSS’s attempt to associate itself with Kamaltai Gavai, a respected Ambedkarite leader’s widow, appears to be part of its strategy to broaden its appeal beyond its traditional base. However, the backlash reveals the limits of symbolic outreach. For many Ambedkarites, Vijayadashami is not the central cultural marker; Ashok Vijayadashami, or Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, holds far deeper significance.

The Implications

This episode raises uncomfortable questions about political messaging and the ethics of symbolic appropriation. The attempt to associate with Kamaltai Gavai, without her explicit consent, undermines the credibility of the outreach and reinforces suspicions of political maneuvering. The incident reflects the ongoing contest over India’s moral and cultural leadership, with resistance from Ambedkarite voices like Kamaltai’s reminding us of parallel traditions of constitutionalism, social justice, and ethical governance.

Whether or not Kamaltai Gavai authored the letter, the sentiments expressed resonate with a larger constituency. Her purported words articulate a principled stand against ideological dilution, reminding us that the anti-Hindutva forces are gaining strength against majority sentiments in unison.

And the RSS, the biggest stakeholder of Hindus as they claim, is being ridiculed for stepping into false grounds such as “Same DNA,” [1][2][3][4]Beef eating for social harmony,” “No Hindutva except Muslims,” “No Hindu Rashtra without Muslims,” and much more rubbish.
