Former Top Government Officials Call for Equal Religious Rights for Hindus.

Grant Equal Religious Rights for Hindus: Ex CBI Director and other Former Govt Officials.

B Upendran | HENB | Hyderabad | Oct 14, 2025:: A gathering of prominent former government officials, including ex-CBI Director Mannem Nageshwar Rao, has sparked a debate over the alleged discrimination against Hindus in India. Speaking at a public meeting on Oct 11, 2025 organized by the Movement for Equal Rights, Rao claimed that the Indian Constitution denies Hindus equal rights to practice and teach their religion.
The programme was held at CBN Hall, Film Nagar Club, Film Nagar, Hyderabad.

Rao’s presentation, titled “Constitutional Bias – Denial of Equal Rights for Hindus,” highlighted examples such as government control over temples, restrictions on Hindu educational institutions, and limited freedom to teach Hindu philosophy. He argued that minority-run institutions enjoy similar rights without any restrictions. Rao called for amendments to Articles 25 to 30 of the Constitution, which he alleged favour minorities and restrict Hindu institutions.

The event saw former DGP Dr. K. Aravinda Rao and AP’s former chief secretary L.V. Subramanyam echoing similar sentiments. Dr. Aravinda Rao emphasized the need to review key constitutional provisions that allegedly weaken Hindu rights. He lamented the government’s approach towards Indian knowledge systems like Tarkam, Vyakaranam, and Meemamsa, which he said were being wrongly labeled as mere religious texts.

Key Highlights:

➡️ To establish true secularism, a policy of equal respect for people of all religions should be implemented. Only then can our Constitution be called a true secular constitution. Otherwise, it will remain an anti-Hindu secular constitution under the guise of secularism.

➡️ Therefore, equal rights should be given to Hindus. That is, the fundamental rights given to minorities by the Constitution should also be given to Hindus.

➡️ The right to convert is the height of religious intolerance. The right to propagate religion (convert) is a symbol of inequality. Therefore, it should be banned like in Greece, China, and all Muslim countries.

➡️ With this aim, it has been proposed that the Central Government should take the following steps:

  • 1. Articles 25 to 30 of the Constitution should be amended.
  • 2. To free temples from government control, all state temple laws should be repealed and a temple law should be framed for the comprehensive management of temples like the Waqf Act.

L.V. Subramanyam highlighted the issue of government interference in temple management, which he claimed has led to the decline of Hindu institutions. He also pointed out the massive loss of temple land in states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, alleging that courts and governments have failed to protect Hindu rights.

The speakers urged the Hindu community to take an active role in safeguarding their religion and heritage, emphasizing the need for equal rights and protection under the law. The event has sparked a discussion on the need for reforms and greater awareness about the issues faced by the Hindu community.
