Upendra Bharti | HENB | Lucknow | Oct 22, 2025:: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday intensified his rhetoric against “political Islam,” terming it the biggest threat to Sanatan Dharma. Speaking at an event organized as part of the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Gorakhpur, Adityanath claimed that political Islam has caused significant harm to the Sanatan Hindu faith. He pointed out the irony that while British and French colonialism garner significant attention, the insidious influence of political Islam is often left unaddressed. 

Allegations Against Halal Certification

Adityanath alleged that the money collected through halal certification is used to fund religious conversions, “love jihad,” and terrorism. He cited the recent case of Jalaluddin alias Changur Baba of Balrampur district, who was arrested for running a conversion racket allegedly funded by halal certification money. According to reports, Changur Baba’s organization had received significant foreign funding and was linked to a larger Islamic conversion conspiracy. Adityanath urged people to boycott products with halal certification, claiming that even everyday items like soap, clothes and match-box are being certified. The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s recent ban on the sale of halal-certified products, emphasizing the need to promote “swadeshi” or indigenous products.

Yogi Adityanath defended halal ban alleging ₹25,000 crore funds used for the purpose of terror and conversions.

In fact, for the first time, Yogi spoke openly about the horrific reality of halal. He said, “The money obtained in-country through halal certification is used for religious conversion, Love Jihad networks, terrorism and anti-national conspiracies. Therefore, not a single penny should be paid in the name of halal certification, nor should any halal-certified goods be purchased.”

Reference to Historical Figures against ‘Political Islam’

Adityanath drew parallels between contemporary challenges and historical resistance against political Islam, citing the bravery of figures like Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Govind Singh, Maharana Pratap, and Maharana Sanga. He expressed concern that these historical struggles are not adequately discussed or recognized in the country today.

Attack on Opposition

The Chief Minister also targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav over his criticism of the ‘deepotsav’ event at Ayodhya. Adityanath accused Yadav of harboring animosity towards the Ram Temple, Sanatan Hindu Dharma, and festivals like Diwali.

RSS and Ram Temple

Adityanath praised the RSS for its role in the Ram Temple movement, acknowledging the organization’s sacrifices, including those who faced police brutality, for the construction of the temple. This statement underscores the BJP’s efforts to strengthen its Hindutva base ahead of the upcoming elections.

With his remarks, Adityanath has once again brought the focus on the contentious issues of halal certification and political Islam, potentially polarizing voters in the run-up to the elections.
