Hosabale Slams Congress to Ban RSS, Cites Past Court Rulings and Public Acceptance.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Jabalpur | Nov 1, 2025:: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has reacted strongly to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s call for a nationwide ban on the organization. Hosabale said that banning the RSS is “not possible” and that Kharge should learn from history. Hosabale’s comments, made during a press conference at Jabalpur at the annual meet of RSS workers, comes amid a demand from Kharge that the RSS should be banned.

Social Acceptance

Hosabale responded to Kharge’s call for a ban on the organization, saying that banning the RSS is “not possible” and that Kharge should learn from history. Hosabale emphasized that the society has accepted the RSS’s role and pointed out that previous attempts to ban the organization were unsuccessful.

“There must be a reason behind the ban. What will be gained by banning an RSS that is engaged in nation-building? The public has already accepted the RSS,” Hosabale said. He highlighted the RSS’s nation-building efforts and public acceptance as reasons against the ban.

Kharge had called for a ban on the RSS, citing law and order issues and holding the organization responsible for the country’s problems.

Past Attempts to Ban RSS

Hosabale pointed out that senior Congress leaders had tried to ban the RSS three times in the past, but both the courts and the people had stood with the RSS. “The society has accepted that RSS plays an important role,” he said. Hosabale also cited the example of Sardar Patel, who had imposed a ban on the RSS but later lifted it after realizing the truth.

He referenced the ban imposed by Sardar Patel after Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and suggested that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi respects Patel’s views, he should take the decision to ban the RSS.

Demographic Imbalance and Population Policy

Hosabale also urged the Central government to implement a “population policy” to address demographic imbalances. “Infiltration, religious conversion, and high rate of population growth in some communities are primarily behind the rising threat of democratic imbalance,” he said.

Emphasizing the need for a population policy,  Hosabale stated, “The government has spoken about it in Parliament. The sooner we have a population policy, the better it is.” He also highlighted the issue of conversions, specifically mentioning the need to address conversions of Sikhs in Punjab.

SIR and Bengal Situations

On the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar, Hosabale noted that the process is routine and essential. “It happens at regular intervals and is essential. There should be no opposition to it; those having objections to the SIR methodology should approach the ECI in the matter,” he said.

Regarding the situation in West Bengal, Hosabale expressed concern, saying that the state is experiencing heightened hatred and conflicts, particularly due to the current political leadership and Chief Minister. “Keeping a border state violent and unstable isn’t good for the country,” he added, while also highlighting the RSS’s continued presence and work in the state.

Other Developments During RSS Centenary

The RSS has decided to hold 80,000 “Hindu Sammelans” across the country during its Centenary Celebrations and will also mount a contact program called Grih Sampark Abhiyan (Home visits), as well as Samajik Sadbhav (Social Harmony) meetings across blocks. The organization also issued statements on the 150th year of the birth of Birsa Munda, the 350th year of the ‘martyrdom’ of Guru Tegh Bahadur, and 150 years of the composition of the Vande Mataram.
