Congressi Menace in Telangana:  Hindu Outfits Stage Dharna Over Demolition of 100 Daari Maisamma Temples in Ramagundam.

B Upendran | HENB | Peddapalli | Nov 7, 2025:: A heated controversy erupted in Ramagundam, Telangana, after the municipal authorities, with police support, demolished around 100 Daari Maisamma temples within the municipal limits. The demolition drive, carried out using five JCBs, covered shrines from Godavarikhani Chowk to Five Incline, Vitalnagar, NTPC, and other routes between 2 am and 5 am on Thursday.

The Hindu Ikya Vedika, a collective of Hindu organizations, strongly condemned the demolition and staged a dharna at the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation office on Friday. The protesters, including members of the BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and others, demanded action against the officials responsible for the demolition and the suspension of the Municipal Commissioner.

Protesters’ Demands

The protesters claimed that the demolition hurt the sentiments of Hindu devotees, as the temples were dedicated to Gram Devta or Kul Devta, revered by the local community. “The action of municipal officials was insensitive and hurtful,” said the protesters, who performed special poojas at a Maisamma temple at Godavarikhani Chowk in response to the demolition.

Congress targets Hindu Temples

BRS leaders condemned the demolition and sought an apology from local Congress MLA Makkan Singh Raj Takur, accusing him of being responsible for the act. The opposition party alleged that the Congress-led government in Telangana was targeting Hindu temples under the guise of development and street widening.

Further Agitation Plans

The Hindu Ikya Vedika members held a meeting in Godavarikhani to chalk out further agitation plans, after which they staged the dharna at the municipal office. Police deployed heavy force to prevent any untoward incident. A complaint was also lodged with the police regarding the demolition.

The situation remains tense, with the Hindu community demanding justice and the government facing flak from opposition parties. The incident has sparked a debate about the balance between development and preserving cultural heritage.
