Ruparani Kalita | HENB | Guwahati | Nov 19, 2025:: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has reiterated the definition of ‘Hindu’ as per Sangha ideology. According to Bhagwat, anyone who takes pride in India and its cultural heritage can be considered a Hindu, regardless of their faith or customs. Such interpretations of ‘Hindu’ by Bhagwat support his own ‘same DNA’ theory, which includes the idea of ‘common ancestors’.

“Bharat and Hindu Are Synonymous”

Bhagwat claimed that ‘Hindu’ is not just a religious term but a civilisational identity rooted in thousands of years of cultural continuity. “Bharat and Hindu are synonymous,” he said, adding that India doesn’t need an official declaration to be a ‘Hindu rashtra’ as its civilisational ethos already reflects it.

Inclusive Definition of Hindu

Bhagwat’s definition of Hindu includes Muslims and Christians who love and respect India, even if they don’t change their faith or customs. “Those who carry forward the devotion to the motherland, the pride of our ancestors, and the legacy of our culture are all Hindus,” he said. “If Muslims and Christians, even without giving up their worship, customs, and traditions, worship this country, follow Indian culture, and take pride in Indian ancestors, then they are Hindus.”

Call for Unity and Nation-Building

Bhagwat urged all sections of society to work collectively and selflessly for nation-building. He emphasized the importance of character-building and contributing to making India a global leader. He also highlighted the need for confidence, vigilance, and firm attachment to one’s land and identity, particularly in the face of demographic changes and divisive religious conversions.

Visit to Northeast

Bhagwat’s statements came in Guwahati on Tuesday during his three-day visit to the Northeast region, where he interacted with noted persons and is scheduled to address a youth meet. He will also be visiting Manipur on November 20.

Centenary of RSS and Non Hindu outreach

In its centenary year, RSS is frantically trying to woo the Muslims and Christians by reiterating its ‘Same DNA’ and ‘Same Ancestors’ theory. But the majority section of non-Hindus usually spread hate against Hindus, reorganising their terror modules, conversion networks, and subversive activities.
