The incident, which took place in the Miyawala areaon Dec 12, saw Hindus resisting the prayers by ‘outsiders’, citing disruptions to daily life and ‘safety concerns for Hindu women and girls’.

Videos circulating on social media showed members of Hindu community confronting Muslim worshippers from outside, shouting slogans, and issuing threats. The Hindu protesters claimed that the prayers were causing disruptions and safety concerns, while the Muslim worshippers alleged that they were being unfairly targeted.

A little-known outfit called the Kali Sena took charge of leading the protest, according to reports. Various Hindutva groups joined the protest.

According to eyewitnesses, Muslims from outside the area had gathered to offer Namaz, leading to traffic congestion and chaos. The Hindu groups claimed that the outsiders were not only causing disruptions but also posing a threat to the safety of their women and girls.

The incident has raised concerns about the growing trend of constructing new Majaras and Mosques in the area, which is seen as a sensitive issue by the local Hindu population.
