LoP Suvendu Adhikari Meets Bangladesh Deputy High Commission Over Attacks on Hindus.

End barbaric attacks on Hindus, WB LoP Suvendu Adhikari tells Bangladesh Deputy High Commission.

Pritam Roy | HENB | Kolkata | Dec 26, 2025:: On Friday, December 26, 2025, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, met officials of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata and demanded an immediate end to attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The BJP leader, who was permitted to lead a five-member delegation, warned that protests would continue and intensify outside the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission if such attacks did not stop. He stated that the officials had avoided meeting him since Monday and agreed to the interaction only after he warned of large-scale demonstrations outside the office.

During the meeting, the officials of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission assured Mr. Adhikari that the Bangladesh government would stand by the family of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu man who was killed by a mob in Bangladesh, and that justice would be ensured for the family members. According to Mr. Adhikari, the officials informed him that 10 people had been arrested in connection with the killing and that those arrested would not be granted bail.

The delegation also enquired about the case of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a former ISKCON priest and spokesperson of Sammilito Sanatani Jote. Mr. Adhikari stated that Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in a fabricated sedition case and has been lodged in a Bangladesh jail for over a year, with his bail petition repeatedly denied. This issue was raised before the Deputy High Commission officials during the meeting.

Demonstrations have been taking place outside the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission since December 22, 2025, over the killing of Dipu Chandra Das. On December 23, police used force against the protesters and arrested 19 people, including seven women. Mr. Adhikari said that hundreds of protesters, 1000 seers including 300 Naga monks (warrior clan of Dashnami sects), were present with him on Friday. He added that the protests would escalate in the coming days and stated that after the Gangasagar Mela next month, around five lakh sadhus would gather at the site, challenging the capacity of the Kolkata Police to manage such a large mobilisation.

The Nandigram MLA said that the “100 crore Hindus” of India could not remain silent on the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh and would come to the aid of the one-and-a-half crore Hindus living there if required. He strongly criticised the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal for acting against the protesters and described the government as anti-Hindu. He accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of turning the Bengal Police into her personal force and called the situation a matter of shame. Holding a placard with the photograph of the slain Hindu youth, Mr. Adhikari said that he had to personally come to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission because the State’s Chief Minister did not.

Bail Granted to Arrested Kolkata Protesters

Judicial developments related to the protests were also reported. A court on Friday granted interim bail to 12 members of the Bangiyo Hindu Jagaran Mancha who were arrested on December 23 for staging a demonstration outside the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission. The remaining seven protesters, all women, were granted bail on December 24, a day after their arrest. The court directed all the accused to furnish a bond of ₹6,000 each with two registered sureties of ₹3,000 each. The court further ordered that the accused must meet the investigation officer three times a week for the next four months or until the submission of the final report, whichever occurs earlier.
