Hindutva Related Gharwapsi Surge Spreads Across Chhattisgarh and Bihar.

Chhattisgarh: Gharwapsi Movement Gains Momentum in Kanker District: 10 Families Return to Hindu Fold in Amabeda and Piprod.

Shivam Prasad & Shuvam Singh | HENB | Kanker/Purnea | Dec 28, 2025:: A significant development related to the Gharwapsi (reconversion) movement was reported from Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, where a total of 10 families returned to the Hindu fold through community-led initiatives in the Amabeda and Piprod village areas. Once the members of these families were converted to Christianity.

In the Amabeda village area of Kanker district, a special Gram Sabha was organized in the presence of the entire village community. During the meeting, it was clearly stated that families who had earlier moved away from their original religion and traditions due to pressure, inducement, or misunderstanding were free to return voluntarily, with dignity and social respect.

As a result of this Gram Sabha, nine families from the Amabeda area collectively and voluntarily announced their return to Hindu religion, customs, and social traditions through Gharwapsi. Members of these families included Ram Kumar Kunjam, Ram Kumar Korram, Kartik Nagesh, Dasanteen Bai, Farte Singh Kodpi, Bisri Bai Sahu, Bhunesh Kunjam, and Paras Ram Gota, along with their family members. The Gram Sabha also unanimously resolved to prohibit the entry of individuals and organizations involved in religious conversion activities in the village, with the aim of preserving social harmony, cultural identity, and peace. The meeting was held under the leadership of Sarpanch Hazaroo Gota and Deputy Sarpanch Lekhram Sahu.

Meanwhile, in the Piprod village area under Lakhanpuri, a large Hindu conference was organized with the participation of villagers from nearly 10 surrounding villages. The event was attended by senior citizens, youth, and women, reflecting broad community involvement. The chief guest was Jagdish Deshmukh, President of Tulsi Manas Pratishthan, while the main speaker was Rajesh Bhargav of Dharma Jagran Manch.

During the conference, emphasis was laid on awareness about religious conversion, protection of Sanatan culture, and understanding Hindu history. On this occasion, one family from Piprod village, represented by Leeladhar Nishad, Phoolmat Nishad, and Shivlal Nishad, formally returned to the Hindu fold through Gharwapsi. They were ceremonially welcomed with feet washing, tilak, and aarti, symbolizing acceptance and respect.

With nine families in Amabeda and one family in Piprod, a total of 10 families returned to Hinduism through Gharwapsi, marking a notable development in the region amid a Hindutva surge. Community leaders and participants stated that such programs aim to strengthen social unity, cultural roots, and collective harmony in rural areas.

Gharwapsi in Bihar:  Over 100 Christians Reclaim Sanatan Dharma Roots in Purnea.

In a striking reversal, over 100 people who were converted earlier to Christianity,  have returned to Hinduism in a mass “homecoming” ceremony on Christmas Day in Bhair’s Purnea (Purnia). The converts, reportedly lured by promises of education, healthcare, and money, claimed they were “misled” by missionaries who spread “false info” about Hinduism.

Organized by Hindu groups, the ritual included havan, yagna, tilak application, and head-shaving for men. “We’re no longer Christians,” they declared. VHP’s Upendra Kushwaha alleged missionaries targeted poor Hindus, adding, “This homecoming rejects fraudulent conversions.”

The ceremony underscores rising counter-conversion movements amid debates on religious freedom.
