RSS helped 1,000,000 Hindu girls marry into Muslim families: Indresh Kumar to Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati.Upananda Brahmachari | HENB | New Delhi | March 21, 2026:: A video circulating on social media has triggered controversy after Jyotirmath Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) facilitated the marriage of a large number of Hindu women into Muslim families. The claims, which remain unverified, have prompted sharp reactions from various quarters and reignited debates around interfaith relationships and ideological positions within Indian public discourse.
In the video, Swami Avimukteshwarananda asserts that RSS leader Indresh Kumar once informed him that the organization had helped approximately one million Hindu girls marry into Muslim households. According to the Shankaracharya, this conversation allegedly took place during a chance meeting at an airport lounge. He further claims that, when questioned about the rationale behind such actions, Kumar suggested that these women would influence and transform their marital families in accordance with their own faith.
The Shankaracharya strongly disputed this reasoning, arguing that such expectations are unrealistic. He maintained that, in most cases, individuals entering a new household tend to adapt to the customs and practices of that family rather than altering them. On this basis, he criticized what he described as a contradiction in the RSS’s public stance—opposing so-called “love jihad” while allegedly encouraging interfaith marriages involving Hindu women.
The video has not been independently authenticated, and key details—such as the date, location, and context of the alleged conversation—remain unclear. There has been no official response or confirmation from RSS representatives regarding the claims made in the video.
The controversy intensified after former CBI Director M. Nageswar Rao shared the video on social media, describing it as evidence of a purported “roti-beti” policy aimed at fostering ties between communities through marriage. In his post, Rao argued that such a policy has led to instances of Muslim political figures in BJP marrying Hindu women, citing several examples. He further offered a strongly critical interpretation, alleging ideological inconsistency within the Sangh Parivar. These views, however, reflect his personal opinion and have not been substantiated by independent evidence.

The issue has generated polarized reactions online. Some social media users have condemned the alleged actions as a strategic attempt at promoting interfaith integration under the guise of communal harmony, while others have questioned the authenticity of the video and cautioned against drawing conclusions without verification.
Indresh Kumar, a senior RSS functionary, is also associated with the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, an organization established by him in 2002 with the stated aim of promoting dialogue and national integration among Indian Muslims. Supporters of the initiative have historically framed it as an effort toward communal harmony, while critics have viewed it with skepticism.
In the absence of verified evidence, the claims remain speculative. Nevertheless, the viral video has sparked renewed discussion about the complexities of interfaith relationships, ideological narratives, and the role of influential organizations in shaping social discourse in India.
