K’taka HJS Calls for Hindu Rashtra and Hindutva Governance in Bharat.

Call for ‘Hindu Ideology-Based Governance’ at Shivamogga Conference Organised By Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

B Upendran | HENB | Shivamogga (Karnataka) | April 6, 2026:: A provincial-level Hindu Rashtra Sammelan held on Sunday at the Kalmath campus in Shivamogga witnessed strong calls for political consolidation among Hindus, with speakers urging voters to move beyond caste divisions and support the formation of a government rooted in Hindutva philosophy and ideology of Hindu Rashtra. The conference was organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS).

Addressing the gathering, Raghavendra Swamy, President of the Shivamogga Lawyers’ Association, emphasized the need for a “concerted effort” to elect a government based on Hindu principles in the upcoming elections. He argued that caste divisions have historically hindered unity among Hindus, weakening what he described as the broader “Hindu mission.” According to him, overcoming caste barriers is essential to achieving political and cultural cohesion.

Swamy also invoked historical and mythological references, stating that the idea of a “Hindu nation” is not new and has existed since ancient times, citing the era of the Mahabharata as an example. He further referred to the concept of Akhand Bharat, claiming that the Hindu civilizational sphere once extended up to regions such as present-day Afghanistan before being separated over time due to Islamic invasions and political changes thereafter.

In his remarks, Swamy criticized the inclusion of the term “secular” in the Constitution during the The Emergency in 1976-77 in India, arguing that it was introduced for “selfish political gains.” He alleged that secularism has been used to cultivate minority vote banks, which he claimed works against Hindu interests. These remarks reflect a broader ideological debate in Indian politics over the interpretation and application of secularism.

He further suggested symbolic social reforms, including altering naming conventions to reduce the prominence of caste identifiers, which he believes could help foster unity. Swamy also expressed support for political leadership aligned with Hindutva ideology, specifically naming Yogi Adityanath as a figure capable of advancing the vision of a Hindu nation.

Despite acknowledging the diversity within Hindu practices—including multiple deities, rituals, and traditions—he stressed the importance of recognizing underlying unity and working collectively toward a shared national vision.

In the introductory address, Chandra Moge, head of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, raised concerns about what he described as ongoing attacks on Hindus in the state, warning that such developments could negatively impact democratic harmony.

The conference and its messaging come at a time of heightened political activity ahead of elections, and are likely to contribute to ongoing discussions around religion, identity, and governance in India’s democratic framework.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti advocates the establishment of a Dharmik (righteous), Samvidhanik (constitutional), and Sarvabhoum (sovereign) Hindu Rashtra in Bharat.”
