Monks of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Ramakrishna Mission and ISKCON are attacked by Mamata Banerjee….

Bharat Sevashram Sangha will go to court for the derogatory and baseless comments by WB CM against Swami Pradiptananda (Kartik Maharaj). 

Prakash Narayan Das | HENB | Kolkata | May 19, 2024:: To dig her own grave, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee accuses monks  from Bharat Sevashram Sangha and Ramakrishna Mission of working against TMC and supporting BJP at a rally in Goghat, Hooghly, showing her loose temperament towards Sanatan Hindu monk fraternity.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Saturday accused “a few monks” from Bharat Sevashram Sangha(BSS) and Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) of directly working against TMC & helping BJP under the instruction from Delhi.

At a rally in Hooghly’s Jayrambati, Banerjee named BSS monk, Kartik Maharaj (Swami Pradiptananda). “There is a maharaj in Behrampore; Kartik Maharaj. He says he will not allow any TMC agent in the poll booth,” she said.

“There is a Maharaj in Behrampore; I have been hearing about him for a long time. Kartik Maharaj. Says he will not allow any TMC agent in the poll booth. I do not consider him a saint because he is directly involved in politics and is ruining the country”, Mamata Banerjee said. “I used to respect Bharat Sevashram Sangha a lot. It has been on my list of respected organisations for a long time,” she added.

 A few hours after Banerjee’s remarks, the monk told HENB: “I don’t know why the CM said this. I cannot reply to something I do not know anything about. I went to vote on polling day and returned directly to my ashram. But, ahead of the polls, I led a protest march against Trinamool MLA Humayun Kabir’s ‘70%-30%’ speech.” He was referring to a communal statement by Kabir that drew reprimands from Calcutta HC and EC and elicited a response from PM Narendra Modi.

As Swami Pradiptananda (Kartik Maharaj) led a big rally in Baharampur (Murshidabad) against TMC MLA Humayun Kabir’s 70-30 speech where Kabir warned the majority community to drown into Bhagirathi river within 2 hours, the WB CM Banerjee made her plan to malign Kartik Maharaj in such a scathing way.

In an interview with Republic Bangla, Swami Pradiptananda (Kartik Maharaj), the in-charge of Beldanga unit of BSS categorically commented, ” Bharat Sevashram Sangha is an non-political and philanthropic organisation which  has been giving services to all in any crisis and calamities without considering any caste, community and creed. BSS runs 12 schools in Murshidabad district alone with hundreds others in different places. We don’t make any communal  or political difference there. I have never uttered anything as WB CM is telling to damage the reputation of me and mu organisation.  The supporters of BSS will protest for saying such a lie against a BSS Monk. Mamata Banerjee has to prove where did I tell this. We will go to the court for justice and to stop such a defamation of a world renowned organisation.”

Ramkrisha Mission and ISKCON also targeted

Banerjee also referred to RKM and the “instructions (the order had got) from Delhi” during her Jayrambati speech.

“There are instructions from Delhi, asking monks to ask people to vote for BJP. Why should monks and saints do these things? Everyone respects and honours RKM,” she said, adding: “They (RKM) have a WhatsApp group of members who’ve taken diksha from the order. RKM never votes. I know that. So why will it ask others to vote?”

An official from RKM said the order “did not know” the reason behind the CM’s statement. “We always want to stay away from politics and that is the reason we do not even vote. Neither the organisation nor the monks here have any political affiliation. We do not depend on political parties for aid. We cannot comment if any of our general disciples, who are not monks and are not under the direct control of our mission, are behind any such act,” he added.

Banerjee took pains to explain that there were some who were “violating, not everyone”. “I have huge respect for Jayrambati-Kamarpukur’s monks, I have seen how they have helped people during the Left regime’s oppression in this area. That is why I am saying they do a lot of work,” she said before elaborating on her association with RKM.

“Have I not helped RKM? I gave you full support when CPM stopped food (supply) and your existence and rights were at stake. I have given 700 acre land to ISKCON. And remember: Swami Vivekananda’s house would not have existed if this girl was not there.” She was referring to the role her govt had played in acquiring and handing over the premises adjoining Swami Vivekananda’s ancestral house to RKM and the restoration work.

Imam Body supports Mamata

In Goghat speech, WB CM Mamata Banerjee has sent a clear message that Hindu monks should be under her control intending a TMC affiliation as she got support from the Bongia Imam Parishad, a body of Islamic cleric.

On May 10th, the Bongia Imam Parishad issued an press release urging all residents of West Bengal (read Muslims of Bengal) to support Mamata Banerjee and vote for TMC and I.N.D.I.A. block to defeat the enemy of minorities-  Narendra Modi Government and the communal and terrorist BJP everywhere.

As the apolitical BSS, RKM or ISKCON did not adopt the line of the Muslim clerics, the Hindu monks of the mentioned organisation have come under the wrath of arrogant Mamata Banerjee.

Concern of PM Modi

In a meeting in Purulia, PM Modi has also criticised WB CM Mamata Banerjee’s ill mentality to defame the great organisations like BSS, RKM and ISKCON.
