Express News Services | Mumbai | 15 Dec 2014:: Notwithstanding mass “ghar wapsi” events by saffron groups in Uttar Pradesh, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders on Sunday pressed for an anti-conversion law, accusing Christians and Muslims of wooing Hindus towards their religions.
“At a point of time, the entire world was Hindu. There were 700 crore Hindus, and now there are just 100 crore. Currently, there are 82 per cent Hindus in this country. If we don’t create awareness and take steps now, in a few decades this number will drop to 46 per cent. If conversions are wrong, then why is the government not passing an anti-conversion law?” asked senior VHP leader Praveen Togadia addressing Virat Hindu Sammelan here.
Another VHP leader Narendra Maharaj from Ratnagiri said the Hindu society is tolerant and does not indulge in religious conversions, but it is the Christians and the Muslims who convert people.
The function, held at MMRDA grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex, was organised to mark the 50th year of the VHP. According to leaders of the saffron outfit, around one lakh supporters attended the event. Besides Hindu religious leaders, VHP and RSS supporters, the event was also attended by those belonging to the Jain and the Buddhist communities.
Emphasising the need to create awareness to stop conversions, Jain Muni Vinamra Sagar said, “Hindus who embraced other religious should undergo reconversions.”
Earlier, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board had accused the VHP and other Hindu outfits of luring poor Muslims for conversion in view of a Hindu outfit |planning a mass “ghar wapsi” event on December 25 in Aligarh.
Earlier in Agra, there were reports of Hindu groups forcibly converting people. The issue had led to an uproar in Parliament.
Around a dozen senior leaders from the VHP, the RSS and sister outfits addressed the event and raised issues such as religious conversions, cow slaughter, unity among Hindus, Ram Janmabhoomi row and love jihad.
Speaking on love jihad, Bhopal’s Sadhvi Saraswati said Hindu girls are misguided and married into families belonging to other religions so that they can be converted.
Omar Rashid | The Hindu | Mumbai | 15 Dec 2014:: Criticising the Samajwadi Party government’s opposition to the “ghar vapsi” programmes planned in western Uttar Pradesh, senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia on Sunday dared the party to lend its support to an anti-conversion law if it really thought conversion was “wrong.”
Mr. Togadia also reiterated the VHP demand for a Ram Temple at Ayodhya, contending that the temple would be “constructed irrespective of anyone’s like or dislike.”
“If conversion is wrong, then, [SP chief] Mulayam Singh, why don’t you come up in Parliament and support a law against conversion… We won’t allow Hindus to be converted. We will protect them,” he said.
Addressing a massive Viraat Hindu Sammelan to commemorate 50 years of the VHP’s existence, Mr. Togadia claimed the ancestors of all Muslims and Christians living in India were Hindus.
“Until Ram mandir is constructed, Hindus will have no honour in India. Ram Mandir will come up whether someone likes it or not,” said Mr. Togadia from a stage adorned by a massive banner of Lord Ram and the proposed Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.
Several speakers at the event spoke against conversion while propagating the need for Ghar Vapasi to “save” Hindu culture.
There were also sharp references to “love jihad” and “nari sammaan [honour of women]” with warnings to Hindu families to protect their “daughters” from the lure of Muslim boys or face an existential threat. “If we aren’t cautious, soon Hindus will be outnumbered in India,” Mr. Togadia said.
“You take one Hindu girl with love jihad. But remember she is not the daughter of one Hindu. She is the daughter of 100 crore Hindus. The VHP will protect Hindu daughters,” he said.
RSS joint secretary Dattatreya Hosbale and VHP leader Ashok Singhal were among those present.

Vishwa Hindu Parishadh (VHP) is said to be the biggest supporter of Hindus and no doubt their role which is always in favor of hindus , Hinduism and humanity is truly appreciable but we are not able to understand till yet that why VHP ignoring the main issue of targeting and defaming of Hindu saints by Christian Missionaries, Anti-Hindu media houses and conspirators. It has been noticing that from the last few decades Hindu saints targeted whether they are Jagat Guru Shri Jayandra Saraswati ji Maharaj, Kripaluji maharaj, Swami Nityananadh, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Swami Aseemanand, Pujya Asaramji Bapu and so on. Why our saints targeted is seriously a question of concern? Saints are the pillars and backbone of Hinduism. Spiritual Gurus and saints of Hinduism and their teachings, services and contribution is spreading peace, love and harmony in various parts of the world is truly appreciable and cannot be ignored at all. We all must thankful to them, because of their teachings we came to know the broadness of Hinduism. Hence it is not only the duty of every hindu but every human being to respect our saints.
It is my request to all of you to please be unite together and please raise your voice against injustice and the conspiracy created to defame our religion and our saints. “SAVE SAINTS , SAVE HINDUISUM”
