Simple puja system, spiritual awareness and equal participation draw women to Hindu culture.

Simple Hindu PujaHENB | Srikakulam | Nov 21, 2015:: The Kaushik Committee which has been advocating simple puja system and spiritual awareness to enable all sections of the society to participate in devotional activities successfully completed 300th ‘Sukravara Parayana Mahotsavam’ in Srikakulam on Friday.

The designated committee which has designed affordable puja system has been conducting Sri Lakshmi Narayana puja every Friday in common Hindu houses for the last three years. Kaushi Committee organisers Perla Aruna and Ch. Mani said that the committee could complete 300 pujas in the last three years without any break. Even this committee is concerned to lead the puja system in any common man’s house even they are not familiar to Hindu faith and practice.

“Hindu tradition never encourages lavish expenditure since the god expects only devotion from people. That is why we are conducting pujas in a simple manner in all colonies to spread this message. The puja which starts at 11 a.m. completes by 12 noon without any fanfare. The committee supplies puja material sometimes to minimize the burden on devotees,” said Ms.Aruna.

“Many women devotees who were inspired with message are conducting such pujas on their own in their respective localities and it confirms the equal participation of  women in Hindu Puja system,” she added.

The activities of the Kaushik Committee is now very much accepted in the poor Hindu people who are sometime put dwindled between their urge for puja rituals and its economical surge.

‘Ganga Puja’ performed at Kapilatheertham.

kalasamHENB | Tirupati | Nov 21, 2015:: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer D. Sambasiva Rao, accompanied by Tirupati JEO Pola Bhaskar, performed the auspicious ‘Ganga Puja’ in Kapilatheertham on Friday evening.

Interacting with the media persons, Dr. Rao maintained that the ritual is performed every year, as a regular practice, by the TTD Water Works Department, during the Karthika month in Kapilatheertham.

“This year, we had good rains which filled all the dams in Tirumala putting an end to the water scarcity issue. The accumulated water will meet our requirements for the next 400 days,” he added.

Later, Ayudha Puja was performed at the Water Works Department in Old Huzur Office.

Chandi Yagam

Meanwhile, the nine-day fete Chandi Yagam commenced at Kapilatheertham, as a part of the month-long Homa Mahotsavams.

Also known as Sri Kamakshi Homam, the ritual will be observed till November 28.
