PTI | Ayodhya | Dec 21, 2015:: Almost six months after VHP announced its nationwide drive to collect stones for the construction of Ram temple here, two trucks laden with them arrived in the temple city on Sunday. The police said it was monitoring the situation.
“Two trucks of stones have been unloaded at Ram Sewak Puram, a VHP property in Ayodhya, and `Shila Pujan’ performed by Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the president of Ramjanmabhoomi Nyas,” VHP spokesman Sharad Sharma said.
[The stones came from Rajasthan and weighing 15 tonnes as per report published in Hindustan Newspaper. A VHP Source said that 75 thousand cubic feet stones would be reached further to Ayodhya in next couple of months: Ed. Hindu Existence.]
Meanwhile, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das said there was a “signal” from the Modi government that the temple will be built “now”.
“The time has come for the construction of Ram mandir in Ayodhya. A lot of stones arrived today , and now the arrival of stones will continue. We have signals from the Modi government that the construction will be done now,” he added.
Reacting to the arrival of stones at the VHP headquarters, Faizabad senior superintendent of police Mohit Gupta said they were keeping a watch on the situation. “We are monitoring all the developments minutely. If there is any breach in peace or communal harmony on account of this development, we will definitely take action,” he added.
VHP had in June announced a nationwide drive to collect stones for the temple. The announcement had drawn a quick reaction from the administration, which had said it would oppose the move as the matter was sub judice.
Where is cash donated for shrine?: Azam Khan.
Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan has asked BJP, RSS and VHP to “disclose” where the money collected for the construction of Ram temple was. “BJP, RSS and VHP should disclose to the people of the country how much money they collected from Hindus for the temple, before and after the mosque was demolished,” Khan added. Reacting to the statement, state BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai said, “Azam Khan should have raised these issues with us in an official manner. We could have then given an appropriate answer.”
