Anuja Jaiswal | TNN | Agra | Aug 21, 2016:: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that India should strive and find ways to get back parts of Kashmir that are under the occupation of Pakistan and China.
Addressing a group of young married couples from Western UP at Agra College on Sunday, Bhagwat, who seemed to openly back Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks on Balochistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), expressed hope that the government would effectively tackle this problem and find ways and means to get back parts of Kashmir . He said the Parliament had twice passed unanimous resolutions proclaiming that POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) was an integral part of India and though the issue was ticklish, the NDA government would find a solution to it.
Claiming that the separatists in Kashmir no longer have the ideological support of the masses, Bhagwat said, “Its only the terror of the terrorists that prevails in the valley which the governments in the state and the Centre have to fight it effectively“. Maintaining that Kashmir is a “national problem”, the RSS supremo said people of the entire country have to be united in tackling it.
Saying that if the UPA government had continued with Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Kashmir policy, the problem in the valley could have been resolved by now. Blaming “bad governance” in the Valley for the prevailing problems, Bhagwat said there is no development and avenues of employment there.
He said it is the job of the government to push for development and also heal the wounds of Kashmiris who feel alienated because of bad governance. “Kashmiris are well aware of the daily happenings in Pakistan and they do not want to align with it, hence it’s the responsibility of the government to create an atmosphere that would make Kashmiris remain with India”, Bhagwat said.
Meanwhile, the RSS chief also advised the audience, which comprised of young married couples, to have “weekly meetings” at home to resolve differences between themselves. “You should discuss amongst your family the problems you face for a healthy relationship”, he said while maintaining that there was an ideological difference in Indian and western societies.
He also exhorted the couple to selflessly work towards nation building, “In 30 years you youngsters would see a difference”, he said.
He further said the government has to also take strong steps to counter the Pakistan sponsored terrorism in the Valley. He expressed satisfaction that both the J&K and the Union governments were working in these directions to resolve the problem.
