Upendra Bharati | HENB | Udupi | Feb 6, 2017:: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it is essential for religious leaders and seers to create awareness among the public to root out corruption, black money problem and wrongful notions that have tarnished the image of this nation. Each citizen can do a lot for the betterment of this country, he said.
was addressing devotees of Sri Krishna Mutt through a video conference held on the occasion of Madhwa Navami celebration and ‘Sri Madhwa Saptha Shathamanothsava’ — a programme to commemorate 700 years since the disappearance of Sri Madhwacharya, an exponent of Dvaita philosophy here on Sunday.
He said the power vested in common people is the real power of this nation. Hence there is a need to show people the right path to lead a pious life. The idea of ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbakam’ preached by the ancient scholars of India is a guiding torch for younger generation, he opined. The idea will also find solution to the daunting problem of fanaticism, he said. Great souls like Madhwacharya and Ramanujacharya preached the importance of devotion for human beings. These preachings spread to the entire India. Later, the compositions made through ‘Dasa’ traditions by Tulsidas, Chaithanyadevaru, Gurunanak, Ramanand, Kabirdas, Surdas all contributed towards reforming the society on a big scale, he noted.
In his tweet exploration for this event Sri Krishna Mutt, PM Modi conveys:
“I consider myself extremely honoured to be getting the opportunity to join the 7th Centenary Celebrations of Jagadguru Madhvacharya.
We are proud that we belong to a land that is home to several Saints, who devoted their life towards service & social reform.
From removing poverty & inequality to climate change, the path shown by our Saints & Seers have the power to make our world a better place”.
Speaking on environmental conservation, Modi said that Indian tradition of worshiping the environment is a model one. “Our ancestors saw the god in the environment and is a model approach,” he said. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Pejavar Mutt, Udupi graced the occasion in the programme held at Rajangana.
Thousand devotees of Sri Krishna Mutt and many devout Hindus across the country took the benefit of “Sri Madhwa Saptha Shathamanothsava” web casting as divulged.
Chief Pontiff of Sri Pejawar Mutt Swami Vishwesha Teertha Maharajji, Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirth Swamiji, Sri Raghavendra Mutt Chief Sri Subhudendra Teertha Swamiji and other saints graced the function in the Sunday programme at Sri Krishna Mutt, Udupi.
