Karnataka BJP Minority Morcha leader accused of becoming Hindu, getting threats from ‘Mangalore Muslims’.

Upendran Sethusekharan | HENB | Mangaluru | March 23, 2017:: A Minority Morcha (Cell) Muslim BJP leader here in Mangaluru city of Karnataka, facing threat over a rumour that he has converted to Hinduism for power and money, has approached police for a probe into the matter and sought security.

The present allegation+ has been raised by the same Radical Facebook Group, “Mangalore Muslims’ , who had trolled against a Muslim singer,Suhana Sayeed, for singing a Hindu devotional song in a TV show+.

Rahim Uchil,  State  Vice President of BJP Minorities Cell and former president of Beary Academy has vehemently denied rumours of his alleged conversion into Hinduism and accused some forces of trying to malign  him through some baseless  posts and morphed images on social sites.

Speaking to reporters here on March 22, Wednesday, Rahim alleged that he was under threat from some people in the city.  It may be recalled here that some edited pictures of him in the company of Pejawar seer was  misused to claim that he got himself converted to  Hinduism. The pictures had even  gone viral.

He said several posts in the social media, including one on the facebook page of ‘Mangalore Muslims,’ have cropped up, alleging that he has converted to Hinduism in the presence of Pejawar Math chief Vishweshateertha Swamiji recently.

Denying the conversion of faith, he told reporters here that the Swamiji had presented a shawl and prasadam to him when he had met him last and he had posted the photograph of the event on his Facebook page.

Maintaining that he has been fortunate to be associated with the Swamiji for the last 25 years, he said “some miscreants edited the pictures and spread the rumours that he had abandoned his religion for power and money.”

Rahim said he knew Pejawar seer for the past 25 years and had great respect for the  religious leader. “I had uploaded on my Facebook Page the photos of my meeting with Pejawar seer last time wherein he presented  prasadam and a shawl and blessed me.  But the same has been misused and I have been accused of embracing Hinduism for the sake of power and money,” said Rahim.

He blamed the Mangalore Muslims Page for   the issue  and for posting his edited pictures and alleged that he was being threatened on social sites.

Stating that he  was a true Muslim, Rahim added has been doing all his duties.  He also alleged that  some elements were trying to spread hatred through social media.

Rahim said he has lodged a complaint with the Mangaluru Police Commissioner on the issue.

Rahim was also attacked by some Quran believer religious fanatics on 15 March, 2012+ for his secular activism through Karnataka State Beray Sahitya Academy, when he was president there.

Brahmachari also demanded special  security deployment for the threatened Muslim BJP leader, Rahim Uchil.
