Soumitra Nath | HENB | Lucknow | Nov 14, 2017:: Gorakh Peeth monk turned politician, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday attacked opposition parties, saying by opposing “Hindutva” they are objecting to “development” and “bhartiyata” (Indianness). Bharatiyata stands for Nationalism in India.
Hindutava is not synonymous with any religion or community but with nationalism, he told reporters before embarking on a visit to Ayodhya to campaign for the upcoming local body elections.
“Hindutva and development are complementary to each other … Those who are opposing Hindutva are in fact opposing development and bhartiyata,” Adityanath said.
Asked about opposition parties linking his speeches and work to Hindutva and not development, he said, “It is ridiculous that the forces which have encouraged dynastic politics and casteism in the name of secularism and indulged in corruption are talking like this.”
While media wanted to know his idea for the starting of Ram temple at Ayodhya, Yogi told, “the aspiration of 1 billion Hindus will be fulfilled soon by the initiative of PM Narendra Modi. Construction of Ram Temple, Ban on Cow Slaughter or Abolition of Art. 370 are not some demands of only Hindu community. Many of nationalist Muslims also are supporting these causes. So, these national demands must be fulfilled by the boon of growing consensus. BJP’s stand for all these very much clear. People must keep faith on us”.
Adityanath also said there is no doubt that the BJP will form government in 2019 and “it will perform well in the urban local bodies elections too”.
