Reporter Bethany Hiatt highlighted the offensive news on West Australian in its Feb 7th Edition as, “Aranmore Catholic College drama: Hindu student kicked out of school for a nose piercing+.“
The report renders as:
“A Hindu girl has been barred from her Catholic school after she had her nose pierced for cultural and religious reasons.
On Tuesday, the first day of school at Aranmore Catholic College, Sanya Singhal, 15, was ordered to remove the tiny new stud in her left nostril or go home.
The Year 10 pupil showed teachers a note from her mother and tried to explain the stud could not be removed for 12 months for religious reasons, but was told she could not attend class until she took it out”.
Yes, this the true picture of the so called Civil and Advance society reigned by the Christianity which does not revere the social and religious customs of others.
The report goes further:
She acknowledged the college rules stipulate no face piercings, but said they also allowed for discretion.
Sanya, who has been at Aranmore since Year 3, said the pin’s spiritual significance meant it was similar to wearing a crucifix on a necklace.
Mr Tanham confirmed Sanya could not go to school unless she removed the stud.
“If she takes it out she’s welcome,” he said. “She’s a good student.”
He said Aranmore was the most multi-cultural school in Perth and had many Hindu students, but none with a nose piercing.
“She’s welcome at the school — she just has to abide by the uniform policy agreed to at the point of enrolment,” he said.
“They knew this previously, they’re just choosing to be selective about it. If I let one student do it, the other students will say, ‘Why can’t I?’”
Many Hindu Forums like Indian Society of WA, Hindu Human Rights Forum, Hindu Existence Forum have protested such discriminatory and defiling attitude of the Aranmore Catholic College (ACC) at Leederville in West Australia against Hindu customs practiced by its students personally without affecting others.
Indian Society of WA assistant secretary Papri Barua said wearing a nose pin was a religious custom for women in some parts of India.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA), urged Western Australia (WA) Minister for Education and Training Suzanne (Sue) Mary Ellery, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Perth Timothy Costelloe, Catholic Education Commission of WA Chair Bishop Gerard Holohan and Catholic Education WA Executive Director Debra Sayce to launch a thorough investigation of the school policies and procedures; which seemed discriminatory and denied the right to this teenager Sanya Singhal to express her religious and cultural identity freely.
On behalf of Hindu Existence Forum, the Australian PM Scott Morrison (@ScottMorrisonMP), The Australian Education Minister Dan Tehan (@DanTehanWannon), Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj (@SushmaSwaraj) and Aranmore Catholic College (@AranmoreCC) have been addressed formally and through Social Media to take proper action so that the study rights of a Hindu student can’t be damaged only for practicing a Hindu custom on her own. Right to education can’t be forged on any discriminatory ground on the basis of religious practice or personal faith and custom.
It is seen in banner (header photo) of the Aranmore Catholic College twitter handle @AranmoreCC that Muslims girls students are allowed ‘Hijab’ and Christian Girl students are allowed to wear Era pins. But, there is only hell in the Aranmore Catholic College, if any Hindu girl student wears a nose pin as per her religious custom!
In Change Org, a campaign as #Save the Study Right of Sanya Singhal in Aranmore Catholic College# has also been started for taking right action by the authorities to save the continuity of study of Sanya in ACC.

Unless the menace of ACC is disposed into a liberal solution, it will give an ugly and fundamental message from the Catholic society to the 1 Billion Hindus of the world.
