Siddharth Gupta | HENB | Muzaffarpur |  Jul 30, 2019::  A group of ‘Kanwariyas’ who were passing by a mosque in Bararuj area of Muzaffarpur in Bihar on Monday were allegedly pelted with stones by some anti-social elements from the Muslim community, said Anil Kumar Das, Sub Divisional Officer (West) of Muzaffarpur. Das added that girls and women devotees were among the ‘Kanwariyas’ who were passing through the route when some anti-social elements pelted stones on them.

According to the district administration, some people threw stones on women Kanwariyas  when they were passing by a mosque in the morning.

“When many girls and women devotees were passing through the route (near the mosque), some people pelted stones on them,” Muzaffarpur West SDM Anil Kumar Das told ANI.

Earlier on Sunday, some other people were beaten up in the same area while they were announcing about a religious programme, Das said.

The police force was deployed in the area to control the law and order situations. A communal violence was checked by the police with prompt action.

The district administration met with prominent figures of Hindu and Muslim communities and held a meeting. “It was decided that both communities will live together with peace,” Das said.

Some people claimed that anti-national slogans were also raised in the area during the stone-pelting. However, the district administration said that it has not found any such evidence to support the claim.

The SDM said: “We will take stern action if the evidence is found about raising of anti-national slogans.”

It has been reported by a source the stone pelters were raising slogans against PM Modi, BJP, Hindus and Jai Shri Ram. They were also demanding ‘Muslim rights for Triple Talaq’ and ‘Freedom of Kashmir.”

Attacks on Hindu processions near a Mosque by Jihadi elements are not new in India. Eminent Hindu interlocutor and Hindu Existence Web Editor, Upananda Brahmachari demanded a thorough probe on the attack on Hindus from a Mosque in Muzaffarpur and urged a permanent shut-down of the Mosque if the allegations of attack in question would be proved.

It is learnt that the throng of Kanwaris were leading to Tirhut talav (water tank) to collect holy water for offering the same to lord Shiva in various temples of the locality, but attacked by the Muslim fanatics near Bararuj Mosque areas.
