BSS Camp introduces tenets of Hinduism in Chicago.

Bharat Sevashram Sangha Camp in Chicago introduces basic tenets of Hinduism to children.

Sunetra Singh | HENB | Chicago | January 16, 2020:: The globally renowned Hindu monastic order and philanthropic organization Bharat Sevashram Sangha( BSS) at Aurora, a southside suburb of Chicago had recently organized a week-long “Youth winter camp” to introduce kids to the basic tenets of Hindu Dharma. The recent camp was hugely successful, attended by a small but enthusiastic group of kids in the age group of six to 12 years and some youths.

Swami Mukundanandaji, the In-charge of BSS- Chicago Branch+ inaugurated the camp with introducing the children to various ‘mantras‘ (hymns) like the Gayatri Mantra, the Mahamritunjaya Mantra, Ganesh Mantra, the Durga Mantra and Guru Pranam Mantra from Vedas and different Hindu scriptures. He explained the proper connotation and the meaning of each mantra, ably assisted by one of her disciples, Sucheta Sadhukhan.

In addition to the spiritual teaching, which included lessons from the Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Gita, the children were taught yoga, meditation and arts and crafts by some volunteers and dedicated teachers.

The children were provided with vegetarian food cooked by Swamiji and also home-cooked food provided by volunteers.

The children were also taught the power of positive thinking and the importance of reciting ‘mantras’ before partaking of food.

The children were also introduced with Hindu life style and daily rituals to take care and respect the elderly persons, neighbors and nature.
