Upendra Bharti | HENB | Patna | Oct 27, 2020:: Just a day ahead of Bihar assembly election, one person was killed allegedly after police opened fire following a clash over a delay in Durga Puja idol immersions on Monday night in Munger, Bihar, a NDA ruled state under the leadership CM Nitish Kumar of Janta Dal and Deputy CM, Sushil Kumar Modi of BJP. Almost 30 persons were injured in the clash between pandal organisers and the police.

Traditionally, the idol named as ‘Badi Durga Maa’ is immersed after three days of Vijayadashami but this time the administration insisted on the immersion by 5 am Tuesday in view of the first phase of the Assembly election on Wednesday. That created displeasure among Hindus.

As the police insisted on immersing over 25 idols before midnight of October 26, several organisers objected started pelting the police posse with stones. Locals say that police arrange stone pelters to start a ruckus to disperse the Hindu devotees in order to enforce the immersion processionists  in a short time. About 20 police personnel, including station in-charges of Sangrampur, Kotwali and Qasim Bazar, were injured. The police also recovered three country-made pistols with some live and empty cartridges. The police claimed it had to fire in the air to disperse the mob, which allegedly retaliated with counter firing.

The deceased has been identified as Anurag Poddar (25), a local resident. The four injured are local residents Saurabh, Chandan, Ashutosh and Chhotu.

Munger SP Lipi Singh said 26 policemen have been also injured in the incident. “We are collecting video footage of the spot to identify troublemakers. Adequate forces have been deployed to ensure no further untoward incident happens”. She said over 30 people have been detained and were being questioned.

The video of ruthless Police lathi charge upon the Hindus went viral across the country which created a strong protests among Hindus.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad protested it in strong words. In it’s press release VHP National Working President Alok Kumar told. “The unprovoked, unnecessary and barbaric lathi charge (in Munger) on peaceful and unarmed devotees going for the immersion of  Devi Durga idols is condemnable in strongest terms. It is unfortunate that one devotee has died and six other seriously injured by the brutal lathi charge. It could be a conspiracy of the local administration and police to effect the Bihar ongoing elections”.

The brutal and tragic incident made a huge Hindu repercussion that reflected  in the social media also.

Lipi Singh who ordered Munger Firing on Hindus is an Indian police officer. She is a 2016 batch IPS officer. Singh is the daughter of former IAS officer and JD(U) leader Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Ramchandra Prasad Singh. She became popular after her actions taken as a police officer against the independent Member of the Legislative Assembly Anant Singh following the recovery of rifles, cartridges, and bombs from his ancestral house. Social Media Activist, National Security Affairs Analyst, Columnist and  Lawyer Divya Kumar Soti tweeted, “Just like the Palghar one, this video from the famous Munger Durga Visarjan is poetic representation of pathetic state of Hindus in India under the Secular Constitutional setup with a bureaucracy trained under a communist curriculum.”

Another Social Media Activist, Padma Pillai relied to above, “And hindutva is supposedly in power. Disgusted beyond everything, with this political foolishness that has imprisoned us”.

Taking his Twitter handle, Hindu interlocutor and Hindu Existence Website Editor, Upananda Brahmachari remarked, “This is Hindusthan. Hindus brutally beaten in Durga Idol Immersion in Munger, Bihar, a NDA ruled state. Unless Hindus can’t regain their strength to fight any anti-Hindu power, the  @narendramodi–@myogiadityanath all are useless. In many places Hindus are 2nd class citizen.“
