How is it possible Baba Amarnath is here & Maa Sharda Shakti across LoC: Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India.

TOI Online | New Delhi | July 24, 2022:: Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) is a part of India and will continue to remain a part of the country, defence minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday, adding that India is well-equipped to give a befitting reply to “anyone who casts an evil eye on us”.

“A resolution has been passed in the Parliament on PoK. Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was part of India, is and will remain a part of India. How can it be that Baba Amarnath in the form of Shiva is with us and Mother Sharda Shakti is on the other side of LoC,” the defense minister said while referring to the Sharda Peeth, which has the ruins of a temple to Goddess Saraswati, also known as Sharda.

Speaking at an event organised to commemorate the 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas in Jammu, Singh said that today’s India is “one of the most powerful countries in the world compared to 1962 when China captured our area in Ladakh … when former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was at the helm of affairs.”

“I want to tell you with confidence that if any foreign powers cast an evil eye on us and if there is a war, we will become victorious,” Singh said.

The defence minister added that India defeated Pakistan in in all the wars since 1947 and after bitter defeats, they engineered proxy wars.

 “After tasting defeats in direct wars of 1965 and 1971, Pakistan adopted the path of proxy war. For over two decades, it has tried to ‘bleed India with a thousand cuts’. But, time and again, our brave soldiers have shown that no one can disturb the unity, integrity and sovereignty of India,” Singh said, assuring the nation that the armed forces are ready to face all future challenges.

Strong and confident new India is well-equipped to give a befitting reply to anyone who casts an evil eye, he said, adding: “India has become a strong and confident nation which is well-equipped to protect its people from anyone who tries to cast an evil eye on us.”

Singh said that during the wars with Pakistan and China, people of Jammu and Kashmir stood by their forces. “Whether one is Hindu or Muslim, all stood by their forces. We cannot forget,” he said.

Kargil Vijay Diwas

The Kargil War was fought between May 8, 1999, to July 26, 1999, against Pakistan intruders, who in the winters of 1998 transgressed into the Indian territory across the Line of Control and occupied fortified defences overlooking the NH 1A in Kargil’s Drass and Batalik Sectors of Ladakh region with a nefarious aim of dominating all military and civil movement on the highway.

 Braving unprecedented hardships, overcoming the hazards of near impossible terrain and severe climatic conditions, brave gallant soldiers launched valiant attacks on well fortified defended localities with relentless valour and enthusiasm, thus attaining an astounding victory.

Despite suffering heavy casualties, the soldiers repeatedly launched daring attacks under withering artillery and small arms fire. Heroic deeds, astounding bravery and unflinching determination of our soldiers forced the enemy forces to withdraw and vacate defence emplacements during the 55- 3 day war.

Each year, Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on July 26. The preparations are underway at the sleepy town of Drass, Kargil. Vijay Diwas will be held from July 24 to 26 at the Kargil War Memorial.
