Hindutva Brigade attacks Amartya Sen on his loose ‘Hindu Rashtra’ comments on UCC.

Amartya’s comments on UCC created a sharp reaction in the Hindutva Brigade of Bengal and the Hindutva organisations like Hindu Samhati, Bangiya Hindu Sena attacked him for his ‘loose’ talk on UCC with a ‘communal’ motivation. 

Supriti Saha | HENB | Kolkata | July 7, 2023:: Describing the move of the Law Commission and the  Govt of India on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) as a ‘difficult issue‘, the nonagenarian Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen has also said it a ‘bluff‘.

During a recent interaction with students of Visva-Bharati University at his ancestral home ‘Pratichi’, at Santiniketan in Birbhum district, the famed economist pointed out that the UCC surely has a link with advancing the idea of ‘Hindu Rashtra’.

Sen is notorious for his anti-Hindu remarks out of his ‘crypto Christan’ and ‘pro-Muslim’ mentality as alleged. He is also a staunch antagonist of the BJP Govt in the center led by PM Modi from the beginning.

Amartya’s comments on UCC created a sharp reaction in the Hindutva Brigade of Bengal and the Hindutva organisations like Hindu Samhati, and Bangiya Hindu Sena attacked him for his ‘loose’ talk on UCC with a ‘communal’ motivation.

The Hindu organisations of Bengal advised Sen to take a tour of burning France for realising why the Common Civil Code is needed in India and that may help him understand the need for Hindu Rashtra in India.

Advocate Santanu Sinha, the president of Hindu Samhati said, “Sen must be clear whether two laws can exist in a country. Whether laws brought from other (Arabic) countries can be introduced here to discriminate against the majority of people and the laws applicable to them. Whether Sen supports Child marriage at the age of 9 yrs? Sen must answer, why a person is booked under POCSO if he marries a female under 18 yrs and why a Muslim cannot be booked under POCSO Act. Why Muslims are allowed to marry a girl at 9 yrs old under Sharia Law. These are not the sign of equal rights or the rights of Women. Amartya Sen must not forget that once his ancestors took refuge from Muslim majority East Bengal to Hindu majority part of  Bengal to evade the Islamic torture and for that, the female members of his family are not bound to wear Hijab or Burqa here right now.”

Coming down heavily on Amartya Sen,  the President of Bangiya Hindu Sena, Swami Ambikananda said, “It is not understood from his lifestyle of Sen, whether is a Hindu or not. So, it is better not to hear anything on Hindu Rashtra from him.  According to the Hindu lifestyle, Sen must go to Sannyas and not to be busy with any worldly thing. As a tradition and History, Bharat is virtually a Hindu country. Just we have to get the Constitutional Hindu Rashtra for the welfare of all and global peace.”
