Tanuka Sarkar | HENB | Delhi | Aug 6, 2023:: The first Indian Female President of the Oxford University Students Union, obviously a staunch Hindu wrote her first book which created a sensation among her fellow thinkers and made repercussions among the Hinduphobic elements with certain chances to be exposed enough.
This book is expected to expose the anti-Hindu agenda of the left liberals, selective secular, Semitic gangs, and the anti-Indian forces globally engaged in Hindu hatred.
Rashmi Samant, who was elected president of the Oxford University Students’ Union (OUSU) in February, 2021 shared the news in X of her book, “A Hindu in Oxford” to be released around August 14, 2023. The book is being published by Garuda Prakashan Pvt. Ltd, worldwide.
In March 2020, a young girl living in Udupi on the western coast of India is thrilled that she’s achieved a dream – she receives a mail of acceptance from the much-coveted University of Oxford for Master of Science in Energy Systems.
Stars in her eyes, she travels to Oxford, in the uncertain time of COVID-19, and begins her course, well-prepared for the academic rigour and the campus challenges. Standing for the position of the President of the Oxford University Students Union, she wins a thumping mandate on her platform of decolonisation and inclusivity. Before the euphoria of being the ‘first Hindu President of the Oxford Students’ Union can die down, her life is turned topsy turvy by accusations of racism, anti-Semitism and transphobia. She becomes the target of ceaseless hate mail and death threats. A History faculty declares that “Oxford Students are not ready for a Hindu President”.
Imagine, how does the girl brave the course against these odds?
Sharing her notes in X Rashmi wrote:
“At 22 years of age, as the first Indian Female President of the Oxford University Students Union, my historic election victory rapidly transformed into a distressing nightmare of bullying, harassment, & threats. It was declared that “Oxford students are not ready for a Hindu President”, compelling me to step down from my rightfully elected position. When I took a stand against this injustice, I encountered a daunting ecosystem that believes in the monopoly of narratives and abhors the Hindu Dharma. From death threats to police intimidation, every effort was made to whitewash the episode and halt the investigation.
“Last week, when the police arrived at my doorstep in #Udupi, it wasn’t my first encounter with such intimidatory tactics. Over time, I’ve come to realize that this is part of a universal playbook used for centuries to gaslight historically oppressed communities and perpetuate institutional discrimination, with Hindus being among the timeless victims. Be it in the UK, Udupi, or any corner of the world.
“As a child of one of the world’s oldest thriving faiths, which has overcome countless challenges, I firmly believe that the trials we face only serve to strengthen us. Presenting to you chronicles of the past few years, of courage & conviction, of faith & endurance, of battles won & lost, of a young Hindu girl from Udupi to Oxford & beyond… A Hindu in Oxford.”
Rashmi also conveyed, “All author proceeds from this book will be donated to young Hindus facing the unfair consequences of our world starting from the young girls of #Udupi”.
She urged, “Gripping and well-narrated, this story is a must-read for everyone, to understand first-hand what real decolonization and discrimination is all about. What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger!”
