Karnataka: Members of Hindu group stopped ‘illegal’ cow trading in Bidar.

Muslim Trader, driver beaten up by Hindu group for transporting cattle illegally as alleged in Bidar, Karnataka. 

B Upendran | HENB | Bidar | Aug 23, 2023:: A group of Hindu people forcibly stopped a van transporting cattle in APMC Market in Aurad town, and beat up the Muslim van driver and owner of the cattle. The two, who sustained injuries, were admitted to a hospital for treatment. The cow vigilantes alleged that the Muslim cattle trader and the van driver were engaged in illegal cattle (including cows) trading and they were severely warned not to indulge in the crime hurting Hindu sentiments.

Cattle trader Abdul Salim, from Mannalli village of Bidar taluk, lodged a complaint at Aurad police station. He named the accused as Anil Devakatte, Munna Hakke, Sagar Chidre, Rajani Dama, Laxman Kumbar, Basavaraj Chowkampalle, and Vishal Koli, all residents of Aurad.

The Aurad police registered a case against the accused under Sections 143,147, 341,323, 504, 149 of the IPC, and launched a probe into the incident.

In a counter-complaint, Chowkampalle and Vishal Koli filed a complaint against Abdul Salim, van driver Mujeeb Shaikh, who also hails from Mannalli village of Bidar taluk, Mohiyouddin Khureshi, Moies Khureshi, Reeyaz Khureshi and Younus Khureshi, all residents of Aurad. The Aurad police registered a case under the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Ordinance, 2020.

Though there is a strict provision under, ‘Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Ordinance, 2020’ to stop illegal beef and cow trading, the new Congress Govt in the state is trying to remove the same only to appease the Muslims in Karnataka strengthening the minority vote bank in their support.

In a message, Yog Guru Ramdev urged Hindus to protect cow resources at any cost to save the Indian health and nutrition sector and to strengthen the Indian agriculture and economy as well. As per his estimation, 2 crore (20 million)  of cows are slaughtered in India every year.
