Hindu School girl murdered during rape attempt in north Bengal; the Muslim accused arrested.

A Nepali Hindu Girl Student was Brutally Killed In Rabindrapally Area, Matigara, WB. Accused Mohammad Abbas Arrested By Police Promptly.

Saheb Gurung | HENB | Siliguri  | Aug 22, 2023:: A lifeless body of a young girl dressed in a school uniform was discovered amidst a thicket close to the Rabindrapally vicinity within Matigara on a Monday (Aug 21) afternoon. Authorities from the police promptly arrived at the scene, assuming control of the deceased body, which was subsequently transported to the North Bengal Medical College to undergo a postmortem examination. The identity of the deceased has been confirmed as that of a student attending a Nepali school located nearby in the area.

The victim was identified as Diya Pradhan (17), a Hindu Nepali Girl. The head of the minor was crushed with brick mercilessly, as reported.

Analyzing the CCTV footage of the nearby localities and adjacent places, the Siliguri police arrested a 22-year-old man identified as Mohammad Abbas in connection to the brutal murder.

As per the reports, the accused was arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and cops of Matigara Police Station under Siliguri Metropolitan Police from the Lenin Colony in Siliguri.

Police reached the Crime Scene very promptly.

It has come to light that the accused Abbas, managed the girl and took her to the abandoned building in order to rape her. while she was returning home from school.

When she resisted, he smashed her face with a brick. The locals heard her screams and found the victim, lying in a pool of blood, wearing the school uniform. She breathed her last soon after. The victim’s body bore multiple injury marks.

Raju Bose, a resident of the area, said: “This afternoon, when a girl was passing through the area, she heard someone screaming and informed her family. Her family members along with her neighbours rushed to the spot to investigate when they saw the body of the girl.” He also said that they had spotted the same girl in the locality earlier. After getting the news, the family members of the deceased and the teachers of her school went to the Matigara Police Station.

One of the teachers, who was unwilling to disclose his name, said: “She studied in class 11 and was a very bright student. She regularly attended classes. Recently, she participated in a cultural programme in the school.” It is learnt that on Monday, the girl had gone to school. After school was over, her body was found three kilometres away from her home at around 5 pm.

Upon arrest, Abbas confessed to committing the heinous crime. The cops are now investigating the sexual assault angle. Later, on August 22, he was presented before the magistrate, from where he was sent to a 10-day police custody.

Police say that there was a criminal record against Abbas for raping another woman before.

Abbas (22) has two wives already. But his Islamic lust for sex is just irresistible leading to rape several times.

Members of local voluntary organisations viz Siliguri Narishakti and Bajrang Dal protested against the gruesome killing of the minor girl outside the court premises and demanded #JusticeForDiya by hanging Abbas in public after a speedy trial in a fast-track court.

In the protest, a senior member of Siliguri Narishakti told the media that under the indulgence and negligence of the Police and Judiciary, even the rape accused under POCSO gets bail in two days and three. She also expressed her concern that the Muslim boys and youths are engaged in ‘Love Jihad’ and they usually victimize the Nepali Hindu girls without any check. If the police don’t take action, the Narishakti will take the streets in the future. The mother and brother of Diya Pradhan demanded the hanging of the accused, Mohammad Abbas in public.
