Sanatana Dharma is ‘national religion of Bharat’: UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

“Sanatana Dharma is eternal. Nobody can raise any question about its perpetuity. Sanatana Dharma is the national religion of Bharat,” UP CM Yogi Adityanath said at the unveiling ceremony of the Dhwajstambh (flagstaff) at Srinath temple in Indore.

TNN | Indore | Sept 14, 2023:: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that Sanatana Dharma is the “national religion” and all its citizens are Hindu.

“Sanatana Dharma is eternal. Nobody can raise any question about its perpetuity. Sanatana Dharma is the national religion of Bharat,” Adityanath said at the unveiling ceremony of the Dhwajstambh (flagstaff) at Srinath temple in Indore.

Hindu is not a religious word, but the cultural identity of Indians, he said, adding: “Unfortunately, some people are trying to put the Hindu identity within a narrow ambit”.

“When Muslims from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh go to Mecca for Hajj, they are addressed as Hindus in Saudi Arabia because it’s not a caste-related word, but a sign of cultural salutation of Bharat,” Yogi said.

Referring to two Shlokas, Yogi said whoever resides in Hindustan is called Hindu. “Those who are trying to erase these concepts of Puranas and originality of Bharat are trying to deceive history and the present,” Yogi Adityanath said.

Lauding British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, he said, “Britain’s Prime Minister’s forefathers had migrated three generations ago…. (Rishi Sunak) still proudly says he is Hindu that shows the traditions and customs of the heritage they have been following.”

Amid a raging controversy over DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments on Sanatan Dharma, Yogi Adityanath said: “There are some people who are cursing Sanatana Dharma. Despite living in Bharat, they don’t hesitate to attack the values, principles and ideals of Bharat. It happened in all periods. It’s also not for the first time that some people have denied the existence of God.”

Yogi Adityanath arrived at Indore airport around 1pm and then flew to Ujjain by chopper to pray at Mahakal Temple.

He also visited Raja Bharthari Gufa and spent some time there. After returning to Indore, he visited Rajwada Palace and paid floral tributes to Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar on her 228th death anniversary before visiting Srinath Mandir in South Tukoganj. Yogi then inaugurated a replica of a fort of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at his statue on BRTS Corridor to mark the 350th anniversary of his coronation.

Before leaving for Lucknow, the CM participated in a programme organized by Ahilya Utsav Samiti at Ravindra Natya Griha.
