On his 58th death anniversary PM Modi pays tributes to Veer Savarkar.

A foremost proponent of the Hindutva ideology, Savarkar was born in 1883 in Maharashtra and died in 1966.

Upendra Bharti  | HENB | New Delhi | Feb 26, 2024:: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, February 26, 2024, paid homage to Hindutva icon V.D. Savarkar on his Punya Tithi  (death anniversary), saying India will forever remember his unwavering dedication to the nation’s freedom and integrity.

In a post on X, Mr. Modi said, “Tributes to Veer Savarkar on his Punya Tithi. India will forever remember his valiant spirit and unwavering dedication to our nation’s freedom and integrity. His contributions inspire us to strive for the development and prosperity of our country.”

Savarkar, a foremost proponent of Hindutva ideology, was born in Maharashtra in 1883 and passed away in 1966. BJP draws inspiration from Savarkar, a prominent Hindu Mahasabha leader.

Interestingly. BJP has not declared its ideology in the line of “Hindutva’ propagated by Veer Savarkar. On the other hand, BJP opted its ideology as Integral Humanism  being the basic philosophy of the party) and Gandhian Socialism i.e. “Gandhian approach to socio-economic issues as party’s commitment. Acoordingly BJP has accepted the principles of Gandhi instead of Savarkar who was always opposed by Gandhi in philosophy and action both.

To maintain its Hindu vote bank, BJP leaders sometime take the name of Savarkar and prefer rampant Muslim appeasement ignoring the Hindu Nationalist interest. The stand of BJP on Veer Savarkar is dubious, rather far from Savarkar’s Hindutva ideology.
