Shahadat: Who are responsible for radicalisation of West Bengal and Bangladesh Muslims?

Prakash Narayan Das | HENB | Kolkata | June 26, 2024:: Islamic Militants of Bangladesh’s banned Ansar al-Islam are active under the cover of a new militant module called ‘Shahadat’ with the aim of establishing an Islamic state or Khilafat (caliphate) in two Bengals (i.e. in West Bengal and Bangladesh). Such sensational information has surfaced after the arrest of a militant named Habibullah Sheikh by the STF (Special task Force)  by the special source of the WB State Police from Kanksa Panagarh in West Burdwan.

Detectives claim that after interrogating Habibullah, they found out that he is actually the mastermind behind Shahadat, a new militant group in Bangladesh. In a press conference at the RAB Media Center in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka, Bangladesh, on May 25, Commander Arafat Islam, director of the Law and Media Branch of the Rapid Action Battalion, RAB, brought forward the first information on the ‘Shahadat’ group. The three terrorists arrested by RAB, Mohammad Ismail Hossain (25), Mohammad Jihad Hossain alias Huzaifa (24), and Mohammad Aminul Islam (25) were interrogated and found that the three were active members of the banned militant organization Ansar Al Islam. All these militant groups are dedicated to annihilate the Kaffirs (non-Muslims including Hindus and Buddhist as targeted prey) to establish the rule of Allah, Quran and Muhammad.

Recently, they established a new militant module called Shahadat and conducted dawati activities (invitation for Jihad) in Dhaka, Chittagong and Satkhira regions. Together they used a secret VoIP app. It is also reported that the recruits were given various training including weapons and blast expertise. Among them, Ismail Hossain was the head of the recruiting branch and the other two were the chief trainers. In a press conference, RAB Commander Arafat said that the new militant organization ‘Shahadat’ is working under the cover of Ansar Al Islam. This organization believes in the ideology of Al-Qaeda. The number of members of this organization is more than hundred. The group is being managed and raised by a person named Salahuddin who is abroad. Their aim is to establish an Islamic caliphate in Bangladesh and West Bengal. They are trying to open militant training camps in various parts of Bangladesh, especially Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Jessore, Satkhira and the surrounding areas of Dhaka. It is learned that most of these organizations are being used as tools for militancy by attracting madrassa students and educated radicalized children. The madrasa teachers of this organization very skillfully motivate the students for Jihad. For this reason, it is also known that they secretly train the members in physical strength training.

Militant activities under the guise of Hindu identity

Bangladeshi infiltrators have created fake citizenship documents with the help of madrassas. This information came to light after the arrest by the Special Operation Group of Surat Police.

Gujarat police have arrested such a Bangladeshi infiltrator who managed to create a fake identity with a Hindu name. The Bangladeshi infiltrator’s real name is Himayat Sardar. But he became Shubo Das by forging the documents. According to the fake documents, the young man studied at Gurgram High Madrasa in East Medinipur district of West Bengal in 2010. It  showed there the residence of the student in the Chakda area of ​​Nadia district. The police state minister claimed that the Bangladeshi Muslim had created a fake document with the name of Hindu by using a fake certificate obtained from a madrasa in Bengal. And after that, state BJP president Sukant Majumdar, opposition leader Subvendu Adhikari, Raja BJP spokesperson Sharmik Bhattacharya and other BJP leaders raised their voice on this issue.,But, the state ruling party Trinamool Congress stated that the case was happened in Left Regime in 2010.

Module is that Shahadat, interrogation of the nabbed militant, now the suspect of Nadia is in the net

The STF interrogated Habibullah Sheikh of West Burdwan’s Mirepara and arrested another member of Bangladesh militant organization Ansar-al-Islam’s new module Shahadat. The newly arrested person’s name is Harez Sheikh (27). The STF arrested Harez, a resident of Mollapara in Navadwip police station area of ​​Nadia, from Gaighata in North 24 Parganas on Monday afternoon. Harez was brought to Kanksa police station on Tuesday. When he was produced in the Durgapur Sub-Divisional Court, the judge ordered 14 days of police custody.

The STF officers said that the names of some others associated with this organization were found after questioning Harez and Habibullah. When the news of Habibullah’s arrest surfaced, Harez tried to escape from Navadwip fearing arrest. Escaped from Nabadwip and hid in a hideout at Gaighata. He planned to flee to Bangladesh from there on Tuesday night. But before that, STF caught him on Monday afternoon. However, Harez claims that he was arrested from Krishnanagar station. He was arrested while sitting in the last compartment of a local train on platform number 3 of the station. Haraz claimed that he was going to Calcutta to learn tailoring.

Harez, like Habibullah, was a computer science student. Studied in Navadwip College. But dropped out after the first year due to financial reasons.  Harez has not been in contact with his parents for a long time. He has one brother, he lives separately. Today Harez said that he connected with Shahadat through Telegram app a few months ago. After seeing the links sent to him, at first he felt that he had to fight against people who wanted to harm India. Harez claimed that later he realised that it was an anti-national organisation. He tried to get out but it was too late. At that time he was completely involved with the organisation. Harez claimed that he had never met Habibullah. But they were in contact through a group on Telegram. Harez claimed that he wanted to get out of the organisation and learn manual labour to live a healthy life. That is why he was going to Calcutta by train to learn tailoring. According to the STF, about 15 people joined Shahadat through Habibullah. Although Harez claims, no one has become a member of this organisation by his hand.

How was Harez caught? According to the STF, Habibullah’s mobile was tracked when Harez’s name was obtained through interrogation. Harez was caught by the location tower. STF officials claim that Harez is misleading with wrong information. He did not specify what he was doing after dropping out. Regarding his contact with Shahadat, sometimes he said two months, sometimes he said many days.

Hir grandfather Haider Sheikh claimed that Harez is not mentally healthy. He said, ‘Everyone at home and in the neighbourhood hates him. He has been having problems with his ears for a long time. He had to see the doctor several times before the lockdown.’ Harez had to undergo an operation on both ears three years ago, he said. Nothing works, we don’t tell him anything anymore. On Monday he told his uncle that he was going to Howrah to join genji (undershirt – vest) factory.

Who are responsible for radicalisation of West Bengal and Bangladesh?

In various modules of different militant groups the Jihadi activities are rampantly growing in West Bengal and Bangladesh so dangerously. The ruling Awami League in Bangladesh and ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal are not strictly active to neutralise such militant activities against humanity and national integrity in both parts of Bengal. Rather looseness or indulgence are alleged as such activities of terror networks  are surfaced sporadically here and there.

The political indulgence of the ruling parties both in West Bengal and Bangladesh to satiate their Muslim vote bank is giving a hidden support to the Muslim communities for involving into a communal motivation  to crop up such fanatic lineup by a part of it.

Jihad in the name of Allah, Quran and Prophet is buzzing an alarm everywhere against the peace-loving non-Muslim people, even the Muslim people are also being victimised by such inhumane religious fanaticism.
