‘They will spit, urinate’: Mahant Ravindra Puri says no to Muslim shops at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Prayagraj | Jan 1, 2025:: Mahant Ravindra Puri, the chief of Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad, has stated that non-Hindus should not be permitted to set up shops at the Mahakumbh-2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

“We have said that tea shops, juice stalls, and flower shops should not be allowed for them. If they are given these shops, they will spit and urinate, and our Naga saints will be forced to take action,” Puri told news agency IANS.

Withing mentioning the Halal community, Mahant Ravindra Puri indicated the Muslims who were captured many times earlier for their nuisance for spitting on foods, fruits or even put the vegetables, garlands an flowers in the sewerage water mixed with urine.

Mahant Ravindra Puri emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful and safe environment at the Mahakumbh-2025. He stated that allowing non-Hindus to participate could potentially lead to incidents that might harm someone, sending a wrong message globally. Puri reiterated that the event should be “beautiful, clean, grand, divine, and peaceful,” and that keeping non-Hindus away is crucial to achieving this goal.

Puri’s statement comes just two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for unity and brotherhood in his final Mann ki Baat episode of the year. Modi had urged people to “annihilate the feeling of division and hatred in the society” and hailed the upcoming Kumbh Mela as a unique scene of unity in diversity.

Interestingly, Puri has clarified in another interview that they have never opposed any non-Hindu person, but rather those who work against the Hindu community. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the Kumbh area, avoiding communal tensions. Earlier Akhada Parishad rejected the Urdu terms as ‘Sahi Snan’, ‘Peshwai’ etc. during Kumbh functions in order to use ‘Rajasi Snan’, ‘Chhaoni Pravesh’ and so on.
