Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life , a major research institute in Washington, DC, is predicting that the global Muslim population will grow by more than a third over the next two decades – with significant increases in Europe and the United States. However, it also expects that the overall rate of growth will begin to slow down. All these came under a report “Future of the Global Muslim Population ~ Projection 2010 – 2030” just published yesterday on 27th January 2011.

Researchers said it is a synthesis of data from around 1,500 different sources including national censuses, health surveys and other studies. It defines a Muslim as someone who self-identifies as a Muslim, not whether he or she is secular or religious or is considered a member of the faith by religious authorities.

The Pew Forum’s Associate Director of Research Alan Cooperman said one of the main findings is that the Muslim population worldwide is expected to grow at about twice the rate for non-Muslims.  “So if, current trends continue, Muslims will make up 26.4 per cent of the world’s total projected population of 8.3 billion in 2030, up from 23.4 per cent of the estimated 2010 world population of 6.9 billion” he said.

The study reveals that Pakistan may surpass Indonesia as the world’s most populous Muslim nation while the Indian Muslims’ number is estimated to cross 23.6 crore (236 million) in 2030, as the community’s population worldwide is expected to grow about twice the rate of non-Muslims in the next two decades, says a study.

According to this report, India is projected to have a Muslim population of 23,6182,000 in 2030; which would be nearly 16 per cent of the then Indian population. And in 2010, India is estimated to have 177,286,000 Muslims, which is 14.6 per cent of the total Indian population.

With a projected population of 256,117,000 in 2030, Pakistan is expected to surpass Indonesia as the country with the single largest Muslim population.

In 2010, Pakistan has an estimated Muslim population of 178,097,000.

The report said, world’s Muslim population is expected to increase by about 35 per cent in the next 20 years, rising from 1.6 billion in 2010 to 2.2 billion by 2030.

The average annual growth rate of Muslims in the next two decades has been projected to be 1.5 per cent, compared with 0.7 per cent for the non-Muslims.

While the global Muslim population is expected to grow at a faster rate than the non-Muslim population, the Muslim population nevertheless is expected to grow at a slower pace in the next two decades than it did in the previous two decades.

From 1990 to 2010, the global Muslim population increased at an average annual rate of 2.2 per cent, compared with the projected rate of 1.5 per cent for the period from 2010 to 2030, the report said.

The Pew projections are based both on past demographic trends and on assumptions about how these trends will play out in future years.

If current trends continue, as many as 79 countries will have a million or more Muslim inhabitants in 2030, up from 72 countries today.

A majority of the world’s Muslims (about 60 per cent) will continue to live in the Asia-Pacific region, while about 20 per cent will live in the Middle East and North Africa, as is the case today.

The portion of the world’s Muslims living in sub-Saharan Africa is projected to rise; in 20 years, for example, more Muslims are likely to live in Nigeria than in Egypt.

Muslims will remain relatively small minorities in Europe and the Americas, but they are expected to constitute a growing share of the total population in these regions.

Pew said several factors account for the faster projected growth among Muslims than non-Muslims worldwide.

“Generally, Muslim populations tend to have higher fertility rates (more children per woman) than non-Muslim populations,” it said.

“In addition, a larger share of the Muslim population is in, or soon will enter, the prime reproductive years (ages 15-29). Also, improved health and economic conditions in Muslim-majority countries have led to greater-than-average declines in infant and child mortality rates, and life expectancy is rising even faster in Muslim-majority countries than in other less-developed countries,” the report said.

So far Asia Pacific region is concerned, nearly three-in-ten people living in the Asia-Pacific region in 2030 (27.3%) will be Muslim, up from about a quarter in 2010 (24.8%) and roughly a fifth in 1990 (21.6%).

Muslims make up only about 2% of the population in China, but because the country is so populous, its Muslim population is expected to be the 19th largest in the world in 2030.

In its another report (Mapping the Global Muslim Population, October 2009) of Pew Forum, it is said that Muslims living in the Asia-Pacific region constitute 62% of all Muslims worldwide.

The six Asian countries with the largest Muslim populations at present are: Indonesia (203 million), Pakistan (174 million), India (161 million), Bangladesh (145 million), Iran (74 million) and Turkey (74 million).  Together these six countries are home to about 85% of Asia’s Muslim population and more than half (53%) of the global Muslim population.

About half of the Muslim population within Asia lives in South Asia (50%) and the remainder are somewhat equally divided between Southeast-East Asia (26%) and Central-Western Asia (24%).  Very few Muslims, however, live in the Pacific (<1%).

From the above study and in comparison to various aspects Hindus of India may feel safe as a little increase of 2% will come up in Muslim population. But the Muslim strategy to capture India is different. Muslims in India have the scope to hide their population as a conspiracy against Hindus. About 20 million of Bangaldeshi Muslim infiltrators stay in India illegally without any reflection in the Indian National Census. A huge no of Muslim babies are not recorded in time as they like normal delivery at home without Institutional care. More over Govt. of India is not tracking the Muslim population in the Census of 2011 as they discard the method of any analysis on religious basis.

Muslims in India capture their zone of power in pocket basis. Though there are only two State of Lakshadweep (95.47%) and Jammu and Kashmir (66.97%) as a Muslim majority state so far in India, they will capture at least another three states in the next phase as Assam, West Bengal and Kerala.

But this gross analysis may dilute the threat of high Muslim concentrated areas in India where the Muslim law or the sharia is the last word and the persecution upon the non Muslims is high. There are only 22 districts predominated (over 75%) and dominated (50% – 75%) by Muslims out of 593 Indian districts. But there is another story. Some 48 districts have the substantial Muslim influence upon the Hindus as they constitute a population like 25% -50%. There are 350 Development Blocks in India where Muslims are majority and over 150000 rural and 10000 urban and metro habitations are in India to establish a Muslim might to explore the Pan Islamic strength in India.

Any assumption or presumption cannot describe the reality of Islamic growth in India, as it does not follow any control or rules beyond Islamic Theory of aggression.

Always it should be kept in mind the Islamic planning to capture India is being operated pseudo slowly but ultra steadily. They have the potency to be third in World Islamic Population of 160,945,000, just after Indonesia – 202,867,000 and Pakistan – 174,082,000 (stat. en 2009). Indian Muslims are the vital 10.3% of World Islamic Population and the largest Muslim Minority (13.4%) in any country.  Take it otherwise. The 50 million (5 crore) Muslim population of India in 1947 is now reached 175 million (17.5 crore) in 2011 and will cross the limit of 235 million (23.5 crore) in 2030 with the blessings of Allah. Dangerous !! Moreover, the Indian Muslims are socially, politically and economically more powerful than anybody in India, as they control every Political Parties by their unique voting power embedded with their increasing numeric strength.

Lal Chowk is a place to unfurl the Tri Colour, not the Pak Flag.

The UPA government is duty bound under the Transaction of Business Rules framed under the Constitution, to officially unfurl the tricolour national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, J&K. A Resolution to this effect was adopted by the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs in January first week or thereabouts in 1991 when Chandrashekhar was Prime Minister and I was Cabinet Minister of Law &Justice besides of Commerce.

As a senior Minister and member of CCPA, I had raised the issue in the CCPA because the V.P. Singh government had considered the matter and decided to discontinue the practice of unfurling the flag in Lal Chowk in 1990 as “it might hurt the feelings of the people of the state”.

After hearing the Service chiefs, the Intelligence Chiefs, and the Cabinet Secretary, Chandrashekhar agreed with me and directed that it be resolved that the government unfurl the flag and the army defend it if there was any problem. The then CM, Farooq Abdullah later concurred and cooperated in ensuring a peaceful unfurling of the tricolour national flag on January 26, 1991.

Lal Chowk is a historic place and not some “bazaar area” as the present CM blandly and ignorantly states. I demand therefore that on January 26th the flag be unfurled, and if the State government does not cooperate in the unfurling, then President’s Rule be declared in the state, and the army be handed the administration of the state.

Can Supreme Court of India ban conversion at the cost of Dara Singh’s life imprisonment?

On Friday, 21st January, 2010, dismissing the Central Bureau of Investigation’s plea to enhance the life sentence, a Bench of Justices P. Sathasivam and B.S. Chauhan in the Supreme Court of India upheld an Orissa High Court judgment that commuted the death sentence a trial court awarded to Dara Singh to life term. Dara Singh, a Hindu Activist linked to Bajrang Sena, burnt to death Australian Christian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his minor sons Philip Staines and Timothy Staines on the night of January 22, 1999 at Manoharpur, Keonjhar district, Orissa.

Graham Staines engaged himself to evangelize (covert by alluring) the poor Hindu tribal people by his organisation “Evangelical Missionary Society of Mayurbhanj” (EMSM) since he came to India from Australia in 1965.The three districts of Orissa viz. Keonjhar, Khandhamal and Baripada were under the scanner of these Missionaries in the nineties for total evangelization which sensitized the Hindu activists for an anti-conversion movement. As reported, Dara personally requested Graham not to convert poor Hindu tribal people and jeopardize their ancestral faiths by enchasing their poverty and illiteracy. It resulted only an aggressor Graham Staines to plan a bigger conversion strategy to grasp the entire tribal region of Orissa which irritated Dara Singh to indulge himself into a deed of utter controversy as came to the world as a murder case of Graham Staines and his two minor sons.

Dismissing the CBI’s plea to enhance the life sentence, the designated Bench held that this was not one of the rarest of rare cases in which the death sentence should be awarded to the accused. Simultaneously, the Bench dismissed Dara Singh’s appeal against the life sentence, and confirmed the High Court judgment awarding life term to co-accused Mahendra Hembram and acquitting 11 others for want of evidence.

The highest apex court of India expressed its anguish at intolerance of other religions in this way : “In a country like ours, where discrimination on the grounds of caste or religion is taboo, taking the lives of persons belonging to another caste or religion is bound to have a dangerous and reactive effect on society at large. It strikes at the very root of the orderly society which the founding fathers of our Constitution dreamt of. Our concept of secularism is that the state will have no religion. The state shall treat all religions and religious groups equally and with equal respect, without, in any manner, interfering on their individual right of religion, faith and worship.”

But, what is more important now that the highest judiciary in India again blamed the Christian Organizations for their illegal and un-ethical conversion activities in the name of “services”. The judgment contains: “It is undisputed that there is no justification for interfering in someone’s belief by way of ‘use of force,’ provocation, conversion, incitement or upon a flawed premise that one religion is better than the other.”

Asserting the related killings with conversion of poor tribal people and its repercussions, the judgment clarifies : “It is clear from various earlier decisions that on conviction under Section 302 of the IPC, the normal rule is to award the punishment of life imprisonment, and the punishment of death should be resorted to only in the rarest of rare cases. In the case on hand, though Graham Staines and his two minor sons were burnt to death while sleeping inside a station wagon at Manoharpur, the intention was to teach a lesson to Graham Staines about his religious activities, namely, converting poor tribals to Christianity. All these aspects have been correctly appreciated by the High Court, which modified the sentence of death to life imprisonment, with which we concur.”

So far Dara Singh is not a Amir Azmal Kasav (26/11/2008 Mumbai Mayhem) or Afjal Guru (13/12/2001 Attack on Indian Parliament), no big shot advocate came forward to defend poor Dara Singh, who had no option to resist these Christian Missionaries engaged into conversion activities in the force of foreign funds either or to sacrifice himself as a savior of Hindu culture and nationalism from the onslaught of Christian conversion everywhere. The patriotism of Dara Singh cannot be questioned.

The life imprisonment of Dara Singh reveals the continuing conspiracy of Christian imperialism in India vividly. Dara compelled every concern in Indian administration and judiciary to understand the reality of Christian Social Service @ Conversion at any cost. The subversive activities of various Christian groups in Hindu-tribal prone areas in central region of India including in Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, in Jharkhand and in north-east regions are highly alarming. The nexus between Christian War Group (CWG) and the various Maoist factions is gradually deteriorating  the  peace and welfare process in so many affected places. The overseas Muslim, Christian and Chinese funds have set a goal to destabilize Indian integrity, harmony and prosperity in all possible ways. Indian Nation must move now.

Once, one uncontrollable Naturam Godse bulleted that so called Mahatma as his tantamount Muslim appeasement caused a great loss of Mother India and the Hindus even after the division of Motherland. Now, a Dara Singh could not control himself as his men under the attack of the vehement conversion shock and the vilification of Hindutva by the foreign Christian agents under Vatican papacy and an Italian mystery. Can Supreme Court of India ban conversion at the cost of Dara Singh’s life imprisonment?

Kashmir Hindus: Forsaken, forgotten for 21 years

January 19 is an insignificant day for most of the people around the world. It comes and goes and nobody notices. But for the last 21 years, for one community, it is the day that brings back frightening and dreadful memories.

It is the day when 21 years ago final nail in the coffin of forsaken community of Kashmiri Hindus was hammered. It was the day when Islamic terrorists and their sympathisers gave 24 hours eviction notice to Kashmiri Hindus. It was the day when the threats of Raliv, Galiv Ya Chaliv (Convert, die or escape) replaced the sounds of evening Azaan (prayers) from majority of mosques in the valley of Kashmir.

It was the day when so-called secularism died in Kashmir. It was the fateful day when humans lost and beasts took over. It was the day that will remain etched in the memories of Kashmiri Hindus worldwide because on this day they lost the most precious thing they had – their homeland.

And did rest of the world care?

No. Not then, not now.

It has been 21 years since first shots of Kashmiri Hindus’ ethnic cleansing were fired loud and clear from the ramparts of mosques in the Kashmir valley. And it has been 21 long years of neglect, apathy and carelessness on the part of all the successive governments both in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the capital Delhi.

Kashmiri Hindu refugees who were overnight made homeless on January 19, 1990 have been moving from pillar to post, demanding their fundamental rights. But no one cares. No one has time for this community because they are too small a number to matter. It is a shame that the one and only symbol of India in the valley, the Kashmiri Hindus, are treated as pariahs by the government.

If it were not for Kashmiri Hindus and their steadfast belief in the Indian constitution and tricolour, Kashmir would have been lost two decades ago. Sadly that stark realisation is lost on the Indian polity
and government.

It is not mere governments that have ignored this refugee community of patriots and nationalists. Even the media has forgotten its responsibility of highlighting the cause of those who do not have a voice. These days, the mainstream media is more interested in knowing what goes on inside the four walls of the Big Boss’ house than fighting for the fundamental rights of those who have been wronged.

Some leading journalists instead of focusing on ethnic cleansing issues like those of Kashmiri Hindus’ have converted the noble profession of journalism into tabloid yellow journalism and are busy lobbying for political parties. It is a shame that in a free country like ours with free press, half a million Kashmiri Hindus have been hounded out of their homes and hearths and mainstream media has continued to ignore this for 21 years.

But having said that, the Kashmiri Hindu is a survivor. Islamic terrorists thought they could annihilate and eradicate Kashmiri Hindu community from the face of this earth but they miserably failed in their
mission.

The Kashmiri Hindu community despite homelessness and horrendous ethnic cleansing survived and will survive. It is the Kashmiri Hindu’s tenacity to weather any storm and belief in its values and morals that has kept the Kashmiri Hindu alive. While Kashmiri Hindus are starting their 22nd year in exile, they will never give up their dream and demand of reclaiming their homeland.

In spite of extreme apathy shown by the world, Kashmiri Hindus will continue to fight for their fundamental rights and homeland in the Vale of Kashmir. Indian governments, Human Rights organisations, the media, and other world bodies might continue to ignore one of the largest ethnic cleansing in the recent times, but that will not shake off Kashmiri Hindus from their just path to their dream.

Nothing can or will break their will.

The dream shall live on. The fight will go on.

Special Correspondent, Hindu Existence at Gangasagar Dham : 14th January, 2011: Sab tirath bar bar, Gangasagar ekbar, may we visit other holy places several times – but one must visit Gangasagar once in lifetime, keeping it in mind Hindus from all over the world, from Nepal, Thailand, West Indies, Canada, Japan, far from Australia and from neighbouring countries like Bhutan and Bangladesh and from every state of India have already reached the confluence of Ganges at Sagar Sangam situated in southern part of West Bengal in India.

An estimated five lakh pilgrims are expected to take the holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal here on Makar Sankranti tomorrow when the Ganga Sagar Mela also begins. The silver sands warm the day time to an extent but chilled the atmosphere at 8′ C. Who cares? The Hindu Confluence at Gangasagar is ready to embrace all.

The most auspicious time for the holy dip is between between 4:47 AM tomorrow and 3:30 PM on January 15, according to the Hindu almanac.

So far, over 1.50 lakh pilgrims have arrived from different parts of the country to Sagar Island in South 24 Parganas district.

District Magistrate N S Nigam said that though there was no threat perception, the administration would not take any chances and adequate security measures have been taken.

An 8,000-strong police force, the Bomb Squad, sniffer dogs have been deployed with civil defence personnel patrolling the waters in speedboats.

Coast Guard and naval vessels were also patrolling the waters.

The administration has arranged for accommodation in huts made with hogla leaves. The accommodation has been increased by ten per cent this year.

Camps have been set up by various social welfare organisations and NGOs.

West Bengal Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh and Home Secretary G D Gautama have visited the island to supervise the arrangements.

The state authority of West Bengal has imposed Rs. 5/- per head as Pilgrimage Tax (Jijiah Tax you may call it) in this ancient Hindu congregation along with a heavy escalation of fare rates of conveyances. ( Kolkata to Lot 8 – the last point of main land : normal fare Rs. 40/- , mela time Rs. 60/- to 70/- || Vessel fare to reach Sagar island : normal fare Rs.6.50/-, mela time Rs.45/- including Rs.5/- as Pilgrimage tax || Kachuberia at Sagar to Mela Ground : normal fare Rs.13/-, mela time Rs. 30/-). The anti Hindu authority in India (Congress) and the State authority ( CPIM) both are forcefully collecting this derogatory charges under a hidden connivance from all Hindu pilgrimages even from the poorest Hindus, while they allowed over Rs. 2800 crores to the Muslims even the rich Muslims just in the year 2009-2010.

More over the State authority in WB is charging Rs 400/- for each small vehicle and Rs. 600/- for each big vehicle at two transit points at Harwood Point ( Lot-8) and Namkhana in the main land as parking fees apart from the pilgrimage tax. These fees are collected by the District Collectorate, South 24 Pgs. The South 24 Parganas District Zill Parisad (the District Civic Body) is now under the control of  Trinmool Congress of Ms. Mamta Banerjee (Central Railway minister), who is interested to display her countless hordings in a welcome mode picture throughout the NH 117 the Kolkata-Kakdwip-Namkhana roadways, but speechless about the such kind o loot from the Hindu pilgrims reaching Gangasagar.

Moreover, the Great Mamta Banerjee (Central Railway Minister, India), protagonist of  Rezwanur sensation and antagonist of Taslima episode is taking extra Rs.3/- Gangasagar Mela surcharge upon any ticket costing more than Rs.16/- , if it is destinated towards Diamond Harbour, Kakdwip or Namkhana or from these Rly stations under Eastern Railway. These three railway station are the main places from where the point of Gangasagar can be reached by roadways. The flag-holder of change Mamta Banerjee never thought this change to give some relief to the Hindu pilgrims coming to Sagar Mela facing many a constraints including a minimum special trains to Sagar Mela in this year.

Swami Nischalananda Swaraswati, Shankaracharya of Govardhan Peetham, Puri, vehemently opposed this unreasonable and un-equal Pilgrimage tax over Hindus and the poor facilities given to the Sagar Pilgrims reaching there for their divine quest.

Magh Mela Fair 2011 started  from 14 January 2011 at Allahabad- Prayag Raj , Uttar Pradesh, India and shall be ended on 3rd March 2011 with Maha Shivratri Snan.


In India, Hindus take holy dip at the time of Makar Sankranti in every river they consider sacred like Gomati, Jamuna, Chandrabhaga, Godavari, Brahmaputra and even in  holy ponds and natural water resources.

Swami Vivekananda’s 149th birth anniversary celebrated

“I am honoured to be present here today on this very happy occasion of the inauguration of the four year long celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. “

Recalling the exemplary life and message of Swami Vivekananda, the Prime Minister exhorted people to rekindle the eternal message of this great patriot and son of India and help build a self-confident India where each citizen has the right to his or her own self-respect, dignity and well being.

“It was on a September day in 1893 that a young man from India, dressed in the traditional saffron robes of a Hindu monk, addressed the Parliament of Religions in Chicago. It was the first time he had gone abroad and it was the first time he was speaking in public. Yet his first few words beginning with his greetings to the ‘sisters and brothers of America’ electrified the audience and brought forth an applause that lasted for over two minutes”, the PM said.

“Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago address is a proud moment in India’s history and it heralded the arrival of one of India’s greatest spiritual leaders on the world stage”, Dr. Singh added.

Reflecting on Swamiji’s mission, the Prime Minister said, “Swami Vivekanandaji dedicated his life to the service of his motherland and to the spiritual awakening of Indian people. He worked to instill pride in his countrymen in their cultural heritage. He tried to build a national consciousness that was modern, rational and universal”.

Elaborating on Swamiji’s stress on Indian self-respect, the Prime Minister said “He believed that the absence of self-respect was at the root of India’s weakness. He exhorted the people to inculcate self-respect. He wanted every Indian to be proud of being an Indian and being capable of saying that every Indian is my brother or sister. His message broke through the shackles of caste and creed and spoke of a language of universal brotherhood”

The Prime Minister informed the audience that the Government of India has set up a National Committee, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, to guide the conduct of the commemorations of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in a befitting manner.

Views on education

“Swami Vivekananda had very definite and enlightened views on education. He conceived of education as the primary means of rebuilding Indian society,” Dr. Singh said.

“We are working on a suitable commemorative event in Chicago,” he said.

The Government of India has already approved a film on Swami Vivekananda by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust, he said.

It has also set up a National Committee under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister to guide the conduct of the commemorative events.

Rs 100 crores to mark the celebration in Social work

The Centre will provide Rs 100 crore to Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math to implement various schemes to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, announced this at a meeting in Vigyan Bhavan today.

Dr Singh said a commemorative event to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is being planned to be held in Chicago where the 19th century philosopher had earned accolades for his discourse on Hinduism at the Congress of world religions in 1893.
The Centre has set up a 10-member implementation committee with Swami Prabhananda, general secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, and Swami Suvirananda, assistant general secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, as members.

Dr Singh said Swamiji had worked for the common masses and had believed that real development of India was not possible unless common people are educated. His messages still inspire the youth. It may be recalled that 12 January, which is Swamiji’s birthday, had been declared as Youth Day by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi 26 years ago. The RKM has chalked out elaborate schemes which include development of mother and child, setting up of coaching centres to educate school drop-outs and health awareness programmes.

With this Rs 100-crore grant from the Centre and funds raised from public and corporate sectors, the institution will involve its 171 centres all over the world, including 128 in India, to start model centres of development with the hope they will inspire the next generation to take up similar projects.

RKM is focussing on four key concerns integration of children in 150 areas, 150 health projects, empowerment of women, adoption of 10 villages, and projects for the uplift of the poorest of the poor in five city slums and five villages.

The institution will celebrate Swamiji’s 150th birthday at his ancestral home on January 12, 2013. But work on social development, started in October, which will culminate at the closing ceremonies at Belur Math and Netaji Indoor stadium in 2014.

There will be sadhu sammelans in Haridwar and South India, an all-India convention on the Vedantic idea of brotherhood’, folk and tribal programs and launch of Vivekananda’s life story in animation DVDs. RKM general secretary Swami Prabhananda said Union I&B minister Ambika Soni is keen on spreading Vivekananda’s message through TV programmes.

Tributes paid to Swami Vivekananda at Kanyakumari

The 149th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanada was celebrated in Kanyakumari on Wednesday. The State president of Bharathiya Janata party, Pon. Radhakrishnan, and other senior leaders of the BJP in the district garlanded Swami Vivekananda’s statue in Kanyakumari. The life members of the Vivekananda Kendra offered floral tributes at the Vivekananda rock memorial.

According to sources, Swami Vivekananda during his travel across the country as Parivrajak, visited Kanyakumari in the last week of December in 1892, to offer prayers to Devi Kanyakumari (Bhagavathi Amman). On December 25, he swam to a rock in the sea nearly 1,600 feet from the southern most tip of the land and spent the whole night in deep meditation. He chose the rock at the confluence of three seas as the site for his meditation.

“At Cape Comorin, sitting in Mother Kumari’s temple, sitting on the last bit of Indian rock, I hit up on a plan,” wrote Swami Vivekananda. It was said that sitting on the rock he looked northward at the great land and its teeming millions and resolved to dedicate himself to the service of his country and to convey the message of Vedanta to the West.

Bengal celebrates Swami Vivekananda’s birthday

A huge devotees paid visit to Swamiji's ancestral house in Simla, north Kolkata, now functiong as an International Research Centre on Swami Vivekananda.

Kolkata, Jan 12 : Bengal today celebrated the 150th birthday of Swami Vivekananda with various cultural programmes to infuse spirit of making modern India.

At a function at the Swamiji’s ancestral home in north Kolkata, the Ramakrishna Mission began a three-day celebration with chanting of vedic hymns before Swamiji’s statue under the supervision of RM president Swami Suhitananda.

Youths from different walks of life have been invited to take part in multifarious cultural functions for next two days.

The day was also being osberved as ”National Youth Day”, which the Union government declared in 1984 to honour the Swamiji.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee would also unveil a bust of Swamiji at Parnashree Vivekananda Kanan in south Kolkata’s Behala area.

Rallies were also taken out at various parts of the city to mark the occasion.

Vivekananda Vijnan Mission, supported by West Bengal Green Energy corporation ltd also held a national energy awareness campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

In the city of Swamiji ‘Kolkata’ Swami Atmasthananda, president, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda in Baranagore.

In another function, former IPS officer Kiran Bedi took part in an interactive session with students of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur, to mark the inauguration of the golden jubilee celebrations of the college on the premises. “The celebrations have been deliberately inaugurated on Swami Vivekananda’s birthday,” said the principal of the college, Swami Suparnananda.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee today flagged off Swami Vivekananda exhibition train at Howrah.

Reports of celebration on this National Youth Day in India in all corners are highlighting the central theme of Social Service for the Living God in Men. Important events marked the significance in opening of mobile dispensary (Jalgaon), spreading smile rally - cleft lip and palate programme (Lucknow), energy awareness campaign (Kolkata), inter-active session amongst students (Narendrapur), inter-faith forum (Hissar) and many more genuine self-less services not in the way of Christian services for ‘convert into Christianity’ mode, Swami Vivekananda discarded the thing most.

Dhakeswari Temple stolen. Persecution upon Hindus and Series of robbery & theft-attack on Hindu Temples engrossed in Islamic Bangladesh.

Upananda Brahamachari || Hindu Existence Review :  Though a big doldrums already came from the minority Hindus from the measures so far taken by the present so-called pro-minority Bangladesh Awami League  Govt. led by Sheikh Hasina through a shattered election promises to them, accumulated pressure from various sides upon the Hindu minorities now may return them in the fearful days under the BNP-Jamat combination for the last clot.

No retrieval for the safety and security for the persecuted Hindus in Bangaldesh as a landmark so far made by this so called secular Govt of Awami combination, nor the change in a theocratic constitution (Islamic Republic of Bangladesh) for a real Secular Democracy without the “Almighty Allah”, or the proper settlement of property for the evacuated Bangladeshi Hindus including their re-settlements,  the increasing rate of loosing lands by the minorities under the loot by Muslim fundamentalists in every corner of Bangladesh or nothing remarkable can tell us the good days for Bangladeshi Hindus with a dignified social, economical and political status in future.

On the other hand, the jaunty Islamists of Bangladesh are now in full swing to invade the Hindu temples including looting stealthily the national temple of Bangladesh like Dhakeswari Temple which has a heritage status.

Reports revel that :

“Hindus in Bangladesh are in shock following the suspension of worship at the capital’s Dhakeshwari National Temple, the most important place of worship for the minority community in the country, after a theft on Sun Jan 09 2011.

Gold (About 200 bhori – 1 Bhori = 0.34 ounce) ornaments, and silver ornaments (five-six bhori) and Taka 4.5 lakh have been stolen from the temple, said Tapan Bhattacharya, the in-charge of the state-owned Dhakeshwari Temple.

Worship at the ancient Dhakeswari National Temple has been suspended for an indefinite period following the theft, the private bdnews24 online reported today.

Known as the ‘National Temple’, Dhakeshwari means “Goddess of Dhaka”.

Babul Devnath, the Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Worship Committee, expressed deep concern over the incident as it was the third major temple where theft has taken place in less than a month. The Hindus in the country are in shock.

“A theft took place at Baradeswari Kali Temple on December 12 and another at Jaykali Temple on December 22. We demand proper investigations into all these incidents,” he was quoted as saying in the report.

Bhattacharya said Ratan Chakrawarty and Nitya Gopal Chakrawarty, the priets at Dhakeswari, had locked the temple around 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Around 6 a.m. today they found three of the four locks missing, while the remaining one was broken.

Mohammad Khurshid Alam, the Deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said they had launched a probe into the theft.

Hinduism is the second largest religion in the country, constituting nearly 10 per cent of the population.

There are over 12 lakh Hindus in Bangladesh.”

Though some minority forums like HRCBM (Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities), BDMW (Bangladesh Minority Watch), BHBCUC (Bangladesh Hindu Bauddha Christian Unity Council-USA) and others are trying hard to address  the constraints before Hindus as an existential threat and put their demands to the respective Govts, in Bangladesh time to time, the general scenario for the trailing Hindus go worse day by day.

A recent report of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) and National Institute of Population Research and Training (NIPRT) reveals that Hindu population has been decreased in Bangladesh region by 24% as it was 31% in 1901 and stands at a meager 9.3% in the latest census of Bangladesh.  The report pointed the salient causes of onslaught of minority Hindus due to post election violence in 2001 in recent caused a mass evacuation of Hindus from their homeland and compelled to leave the country under the tantamount pressure of ransom, infringing religious rights, destruction of their properties, encroaching lands, physical torture, arson, molestation, rape, abduction, even pressurised conversion and so on. In such strangulation the reproduction rates of Hindus in Bangladesh came down and the immigration rates are high.

From another source it is evident that some 100 destruction of temples and over 300 registered cases of abduction-molestation-rape of Hindu women and minor girls earmarked 2010 as hopeless situation also from the new vendors of secularism in Bangladesh.

This kind of shameless burglary in a highest Hindu Temple declared as  ”Sree Sree Dhakeswari Jatiyo Mandir” (National Temple) amidst a high security police arrangements created much confusion in all quarters including a bitter repercussion throughout Bangladeshi Hindus and also in neighboring India.

Senior reporter Mr. Basudev Dhar of Danik Statesman, Kolkata reports in its first page from Dhaka that the burglary was so designed only to harass  the minorities in Bangladesh. The Temple authority has already covered the front of deity with a white cloth and suspended the formal puja for an indefinite period as a protest. Meantime the daily puja shall be made through  the rituals before a ‘holy pitcher’. The Hindu minority leaders of Bangladesh including the Co-ordination Committee of Bangladesh Sarbajonin Durgotsav jointly declared a ‘human-chain’ programme on Wednesday on in every where in Bangladesh as a mark of protest. Hindu leaders of Bangladesh have vehemently criticized the inaction of the present Govt. to take proper action to protect the property, prosperity and dignity of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. They pointed out the every onslaught upon the Hindus in Bangladesh aiming to drive them away by hook or crook.

The Deputy Home Minister of Bangladesh Samsul Haque Tuku (Awami League) visited the Dhakeswari temple today on 10th January, 2010  and assured the prompt arrest of the culprit behind the burglary. The local BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam also visited the temple and expressed his utter dissatisfaction about the present Govt. so that the burglars be-fooled the state police contingencies then on duty at the temple premises.

Minority Hindus in Bangladesh suspect a  nefarious connection between the state police, intelligence and the culprits as they all belong to majority Muslim community. So far the Police and Intelligence in Bangladesh is completely failure to trace out the burglary cases in Bradeswari Kali Temple (Rajar Bag), Jay kali Temple (Wari) and four other old temples in Narayngunj.

The pity minority Hindus in Bangladesh have to tolerate all these Islamic persecution.
