Hindus protest after woman forcefully converted to Islam in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD | TOI | 30 MARCH 2013::  Members of Pakistan’s minority Hindu community staged a protest in southern Sindh province after a Hindu woman converted to Islam and married a Muslim man, according to a media report on Saturday.

The protest and a “wave of anger” within the minority community led to the postponement of polls for the Hindu panchayat in Jacobabad on Friday.

Reports from Jhanjhri Street area of Jacobabad said Ganga, the daughter of gold trader Ashok Kumar, married Asif Ali, son of another gold trader Bahadur Ali Surhio, at Amrot Sharif Dargah after converting to Islam, the Dawn reported.

Ganga changed her name to Aasia. The woman’s parents and several relatives rushed to the shrine after learning about the conversion but the marriage had already been registered.

They returned to Jacobabad and lodged an FIR that alleged Ganga was kidnapped by Asif Ali, his father, a brother named Abid Ali, and another man identified as Miran Bukhsh. Asif Ali was not at his residence but his father, brother and Miran Bukhsh were arrested.

The Hindu community of Jacobabad took to the streets and organised a protest against the “kidnapping” of the woman. Angry groups of local residents called for a strike and postponement of the Hindu panchayat polls till the matter was settled.

Heated arguments over the polls created an ugly situation and police had to be called in to restore order. [Pic. given above is representational].

Incumbent panchayat chief Harpal Das Chabria told several hundred voters and their candidates that kidnapping of Hindu girls and their “forced conversion” had increased for some time.

He appealed to authorities to check the trend and provide protection to Hindus in Sindh.

A rally was organised from Janta Hall in Jacobabad against the alleged kidnapping. People marched to the local press club, shouting slogans for Ganga’s reunion with her family.

Hindu leaders warned that if their demand was not met, the community would observe a strike across the city and start an agitation.

Some Hindus alleged Sarafa association president Samiullah Surhio was involved in the alleged kidnapping.

However, Surhio told the media that he had nothing to do with the matter.

The Hindu community in Sindh has been up in arms since last year over the alleged abduction and forced conversion of several women.

    A conspiracy is being hatched to wipe out the Hindu Race in the partitioned land of Akhandbharat unfortunately named Pakistan inclusive of todays Bangla Desh. In Hindu Shastra a male, whereas a female is a source to emanate/ create the Family be called a VANSH, It is undisputed fact, that the Muslims have been meted out the atrocities upon Hindus at large since the day that religion has taken its course towards India by Mohd-bin-kasim by conquering the Sindh to defeat Raja Dahir by way demolishing the temples, forcible conversions esp. girls/ladies. on coming into the existence of Pakistan, the population of Hindus was as per my knowledge 20%, may be varied, but presently its about 1.6% of the total population and the day isn’t far when it would be at the stage of extinction.. A female is ought to be a Mother too and its the matter of utmost shame on our part, if we are unable to protect our mothers. In India when some riot etc. is broken out against the muslims, the Pakistan Govt. doesn’t hesitate to internationalization the issue, rather at home the pseduo secularists immediate attack the Sangh Parivar on the name of Bhagva Antakvad and some NGOs/ Media personals make no stone untouched to defame the Rashravadi Groups, but now when the atrocities have been committed upon the Hindu Race in Pakistan & Bangla Desh, where is their voice? In Pakistan according to a report Nearly 2,000 women and girls from various minority sects were forcibly converted to Islam through rape, torture and kidnappings, and 161 people were charged with blasphemy in 2011, which is still continue, but I think, the same has not been condemned by Govt. of India, what to talk about the raising the issue with Pakistan or international organisation. In the recent past nos. of incident of atrocities upon minority on the name of blasphemy have been occured resulting the undue torture to Minorities by the fundamentalist. The Hindus esp. Girls are now at the vulnerable stage in Pakistan and as such the Hindus at large irrespective of Caste, Creed & ethnicity should come forward to internationalize the matter of forcible conversion of Hindu girls, rather the whole issue of atrocities upon Minorities at large and the world powers i.e. UNO, if they have some feeling for the sake of Human Rights is remained, by taking su-motto cognizance that the existence of Pakistan is dangerous for international community, should take control this state and the Laws of Blasphemy & others against the minorities should be repealed.
