MIM MLA suspended for not saying ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’

Bhavika Jain | TNN | Mumbai | Mar 16, 2016:: Maharashtra Assembly suspends MIM MLA Waris Pathan after he refused to say Bharat Mata ki Jai.

The issue started when MIM MLA Imtiaz Jaleel was speaking on the governor’s speech and said that the government shouldn’t spend public money on monuments.

To which BJP members said that if you don’t want monuments for national heroes that means you don’t respect them?

Ram Kadam, MLA of MNS asked them if you will say Bharat Mata ki Jai, to which Waris Pathan who was sitting down said nahi bolunga.

“He declined to repeat Bharat Mata ki Jai. These anti-nationals have no place in the assembly and should be suspended,” said BJP leader Ashish Shelar.
