Upendra Upadhyaya | HENB | Lucknow | Sept 9, 2017:: An angry Hindu mob on Saturday attacked a Jawed Habib salon in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district and vandalised the property over the use of Hindu gods’ caricature in one of his advertisements.
Police said the mob was led by workers of the Hindu Jagran Manch, who attacked the beauty salon in Motinagar in the district neighbouring the state capital.
As the mob vent its ire on the salon, some customers were trapped inside.
The activists of the Hindu outfit also threatened the owner to wind up his business or face consequences, following which a police complaint was filed.
A police team visited the salon and took some eyewitness account of the attack.
Regional Secretary of the Hindu Jagran Manch, Vimal Dwivedi said sacrilege of Hindu gods would not be tolerated at any cost. “We will not allow the salon to operate,” he said.
Habib has already offered his apology and maintains that the ad was released in Kolkata by a partner concern without his knowledge.
The controversial ad in question carried the caption ‘Gods too visit JH Salon’ that led to a case being registered against the hair-stylist in Hyderabad.
From Hyderabad HENB correspondent Pramila Devi reports, a day after receiving a complaint against hairstylist Jawed Habib for allegedly insulting Hindu Gods by giving advertisements, police registered a case against him on Friday. Practicing advocate K Karuna Sagar lodged a complaint with police stating that when he was surfing Twitter, he noticed an advertisement issued by Jawed Habib depicting a section of Gods and Goddess sitting in a saloon. In his complaint, Karuna Sagar said that Jawed Habib insulted a section of people by giving such advertisement.
Inspector K Sattiah said they would seek legal opinion and, if necessary, send a notice to Habib. “I came to know Habib has already issued an apology in writing and also posted a video online apologizing for the advertisement. We will take legal opinion and see how to proceed,” he said.
While talking to Vimal Dwivedi, the Regional Regional Secretary of the Hindu Jagran Manch, Uttar Pardesh, Dwivedi told HENB, “We have noticed such derogatory and sacrilegious Front covers in some Durga Puja Anuual Number Bengali Magazines published by Ananda Bazar Patrika Group. Hindu Jagran Manch and VHP protested the issue in last month in Kolkata. Police attacked that protest rally and the Media House did not make any apology even. We will also see the matter in UP or elsewhere to pull down their courage to attack Hindu sentiments in a very clandestine manner”.

Well done but to no effect
I wholeheartedly support the movement of ABVP
