Hindu Sena cancels protest citing police pressure, force deployed as precautionary measure. Sources say, Police is requesting the protesters to clear the road and the Shaheen Bagh protesters are preparing to give a befitting reply to the police for imposing CrPc 144 around the protest venue.

Amit Modi | HENB | New Delhi | March 1, 20920:: Delhi police made a heavy deployment of security personnel in southeast Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area imposing Section 144, where several women have been leading a protest on the road against the new citizenship law for more than two months, as a ‘precautionary measure’ on Sunday morning, officials said. But, the police has no any intention to clear the ‘illegal’ Saheen Bagh road blockade forcefully, as the matter is now pending in Supreme Court.

The police deployment has come after a fringe right-wing group, Hindu Sena, gave a call to clear the Shaheen Bagh road on March 1. However on Saturday, with the intervention of police, they called off their proposed protest against the anti-CAA agitation in Shaheen Bagh.

“The proposed protest call was cancelled with timely intervention. But as a precautionary measure, we have made heavy police deployment here,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) RP Meena said.

Twelve companies, including two of female forces, have been deployed in Shaheen Bagh, 100 men each from four police districts have also been deployed along with the local police, the official said.

The Hindu Sena said in a statement that, police pressurized them to call off their protest on Sunday against the Shaheen Bagh agitation. It also claimed that their National President Vishnu Gupta was “illegally detained”.

In a separate Press Release Hindu Sena called off the 1st March 2020 Shaheen Bagh protest site clearance call.

Gupta asked the residents to assemble in front of a school on Sunday at 10am. He also held meetings with residents of Okhla, Badarpur and Tuglakabad, as sources said.

“We will clear the roads ourselves, if the court and police fail to do so. Hindus are peace loving, but not cowards. We are ready to accept any Jihadi challenge to destroy Hindusthan and its Hindu citizens in the name of Islam, CAA, NRC and so on. Shaheen Bagh protests are nothing but deliberate attempt to encourage and abet riot-like situation across the country, derail the economy and defame India on global platform,” Hindu Sena Chief Vishnu Gupta told HENB.

Shaheen Bagh, near Jamia Millia Islamia in South Delhi District, has been a protest venue for a section of people opposed to the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act ) and the  NRC (National Register of Citizens) since December 15 last year.

A close associate of Vishnu Gupta told HENB, “Police has failed to clear the Shaheen Bagh road blockade over two months. When Hindus took the initiative to clear it, police intervened and cordoned the area to allow the road blockade for further to create more trouble to the public. This is very unfortunate. Why police is allowing Shaheen Bagh any more? Supreme Court must issue immediate order to clear Shaheen Bagh. Within 30 minutes from getting court’s order, Shaheen Bagh protest must be cleared off from road.  If they don’t, we will come again soon.”

Some days ago, Hindu interlocutor and Hindu Existence Website Editor, Upananda Brahmachari urged Home Minister Amit Shah, Lt Governor of Delhi, Delhi CM Kejriwal and Delhi Police to bring new regulation to allow public protests /agitation/dharna etc. only at Jantar Mantar and Ram Leela ground in Delhi. But, the authorities have yet to take any decision on it.
