Dwarkapeeth Shankaracharya Shrimad Swami Swaroopanand passes away at 99: A Glimpse at His Life Journey.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | Sept 11, 2022:: Dwarka Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passed away at the age of 99 in Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur district on Sunday. According to his close desciples, Swami Swaroopanand, who was the Shankracharya of Dwarka, Sharda, and Jyotish Peeth, was not keeping well for over a year.

The venerated Hindu Seer passed away at his Ashram in the Narsinghpur district around 3:30 PM, Swami Sadanand Maharaj, second-in-command (known as Dandi Swami) of the Dwarka Peeth, told PTI.

Known as a ‘Congressi Shankaracharya’ for many congress leaders used to reach  Swami Swaroopananda to get his blessings; but His immense contribution for Hindutva cause in the shape of protecting Sanatan Dharma from the malice of Conversion, Cow Slaughter, Corruption, Cultural deterioration and Culpable entry of Politics in Dharma Domain cannot be ignored anyway.

Swami Swaroopananda always advocated for early temple construction at Ayodhya Ramjanmabhoomi, Removal of Art 370, Law for Cow Protection and Prohibition of Converstion and Introduction of Uniform Civil Code.

He made a distance with Rashtriya Swaymsevak Sangha, Vishwa Hindu Parishad for its political allegiance to BJP and did not any join any Dharma Sansad convened by VHP under the influence of RSS.

Swami Swaroopananda performed separate Bhoomi Pujan (ground breaking ceremony) for Ramjanmabhoomi Temple and convened separate Param Dharma Sansad in Prayagraj Kumbh in  January 2019.

A Glimpse at Dwarkapeeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati Ji’s Life Journey

  • The Shankaracharya was born as Pothiram Upadhyay in Dighori village in the Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh in 1924.
  • He had left his home in pursuit of God at the age of 9.
  • He was incarcerated during the freedom struggle. At 19 years old he became a freedom fighter in the Quit India movement in 1942.
  • During the time he was known as “Revolutionary Sadhu”. He was jailed for this, serving a prison sentence of nine months and another of six months.
  • He was direct disciple of Shankaracharya Brahmananda Saraswati of Jyotir Math (1941–1953) and of Shankaracharya Krishnabodha Ashrama of Jyotir Math (1953–1973).
  • His Guru Brahmananda made him a Dandi Sannyasi in 1950.
  • In the year 1981, he became Shankracharya.
  • Swaroopananda Swami was a close associate of Swami Karpatraji Maharaj (1907-1982) and took took the charge of President of Ramrajya Parishad as directed by Karpatraji Maharaj.
  • Swaroopananda performed separate Bhoomi Pujan (ground breaking ceremony) and Shilanyas for Ramjanmabhoomi Temple and convened separate Param Dharma Sansad in Prayagraj Kumbh in  January-February 2019.

Swami Swaroopananda ji vehemently opposed Sai Pujan (actually Chand Mia) in Sanatan Hindu Dharma and beef export from India. Swamiji was an exponent of Ved, Vedang, Vyakaran, Puran and other Shastras in his time and beyond.

VHP, Int’l Working President Adv. Alok Kumar paid his obeisance at the passing away of Dwaraka Shankaracharya through a tweet from VHP handle.

Uttar Pradesh CM and Gorakhpeeth Mahanta Yogi Adityanath tweeted: “श्री द्वारका-शारदा पीठ व ज्योतिर्मठ पीठ के जगतगुरु शंकराचार्य श्रद्धेय स्वामी श्री स्वरूपानंद सरस्वती जी महाराज का ब्रह्मलीन होना संत समाज की अपूरणीय क्षति है।

प्रभु श्री राम दिवंगत पुण्यात्मा को अपने परमधाम में स्थान व शोकाकुल हिंदू समाज को यह दुःख सहने की शक्ति दें।

ॐ शांति!” (The Supreme coalescence of Shri Dwarka-Sharda Peeth and Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath Peeth, revered Swami Shri Swaroopanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, is an irreparable loss to the saint society. May Lord Shri Ram grant the departed soul a place in his supreme abode and strength to the bereaved Hindu society to bear this sorrow. Peace!)

However, PM Modi did not find any role or contribution of Swami Swaroopananda Ji towards Sanatan Hindu Dharma or this Nation!

Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel also condoled the death of Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati calling him a “great saint” who illuminated the earth.

      RIP is an Abrahamic way to convey to condolence. As per Abrahamic and Islamic faith, the soul with the buried body in the grave waits for the Doom’s day or Roz Kayamat for last judgment. So, they pray peace for the departed soul as ‘Rest in Peace’. But, as per Sanatan Hindu belief, the dead body is burnt in fire and it mingles with Panch Tattva (five forms of water, earth, fire, air and sky). And another journey of soul starts as per Karma doctrine. So saying, ‘Divyan Lokan Sa Gacchatu’ – The Soul may go to the Divine /Supreme/Heavenly abode…. more appropriate.

    Although in severe shock and great stress, we have faced the challenges and moved forward crossing the barriers, biases, impediments etc that came before us, … it was tough, not easy, for my wife and sons and the others also … I brought up my two sons Kaviraj and Shilpi as future presidents of usa, with that attitude/ outlook/ mindset, supporting and encouraging the leadership nature already in them.     Others are being used and/ or helping them directly and/ or indirectly, along with their interests and ideologies, China also included. Nature of the Deep state is involved in various strong ways, including the nature of the different religions and their associated deep states, some extremely very strong… for many others, individuals also, it is just survival under whatever conditions exist for them…
