Comedian Vir Das’s Show Cancelled after Strong Objections from the patriotic People. Great success for Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Hindu Existence Forum to stop anti-Hindu and anti-Indian shows in the soil of Bengaluru.

B Upendran | HENB | Bengaluru | Nov 10, 2022:: The tasteless, anti-Hindu and anti-Indian stand-up comedian Vir Das’s Bengaluru show, set to open Thursday, has been cancelled due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’. The show cancellation comes days after Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) claimed that Mr Das’s show “hurts Hindu sentiments and presents India in bad light”. Through submitting complaint against the Bengaluru Programme of Vir Das to the Police authority, HJS ran a massive social media campaign against the programme which was supported by the many patriotic people and Hindutva organisations including Hindu Existence Forum.

“Due to unavoidable circumstances we are pushing the Bengaluru show. New details and dates soon,” Mr Das said, apologising for the inconvenience though his Instagram handle. The show was scheduled for 5.30 pm on Nov 10 at the T Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Malleswaram.

The show organiser was forced to cancel the housefull event after pressure from the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. The cost of the ticket ranged between ₹ 2,000-3,500 per person. The people with tickets will be reimbursed by the show organisers.

This was a strong signals for the artists, comedians, painters, writers. movie makers, media houses and so called intellectuals who generally like to play with the Indian and Hindu sentiments for their profits.

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had filed a police complaint with the Vyalikaval police station. The comedian, who faced a huge backlash last year over his viral “Two Indias” monologue in the US.

“Earlier he had made derogatory statements against women, our Prime minister and India at John F Kennedy Center in Washington DC, America and denigrated the Nation. He had said that ‘In India, we worship women in the day and rape them at night’ during the performance,” said Hindu Janajagruti Samiti state spokesperson Sri Mohan Gowda.

The right-wing organisation complained that it was not right to allow such a controversial person to hold a program in a communally sensitive area like Bengaluru.

Amidst the campaign against the Vir Das Programme, Hindu Interlocutor and Hindu Existence Forum President Upananda Brahmachari requested the offices of  Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and the office of Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra Kumar to stop the programme. Both the office gave the assurance for a timely police action under proper regulation.

Finally, it is a great success also this time for Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Hindu Existence Forum to stop an anti-Hindu and anti-Indian shows in the soil of Bengaluru again after the cancellation of  Comedian Munawar Faruqui’s programme in the city in Aug 2022 in the same way.
