Ex Top Cop K P Singh joined VHP to boost up Hindu next generation.

Ex-IPS officer Kavindra Pratap Singh appointed VHP’s Kashi prant chief

Winner of the President’s Police Medal For Distinguished Service, Singh retired as Inspector General last August.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Lucknow | Jan 4, 2023:: Retired Inspector General of Police and IPS officer Kavindra Pratap Singh has been made the new president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) of Kashi Prant (province). Kavindra Pratap Singh told reporters that the organization would focus on encouraging Hindu families to bring values to the young generation, who are following Western culture, ignoring their great values and traditions.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) believes that families can play a special role in promoting Indian culture and tradition among children. Kavindra Pratap Singh said, “Besides running ‘Sanskar Kendra’ in different slums of the city, the VHP is encouraging elders of Hindu families to teach their children about the rich Indian culture and traditions.”

After being appointed Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Kashi prant chief, retired IPS officer Kavindra Pratap Singh said his focus will be on promoting “unity in society” and inculcating “our culture and traditions” in the youths through ‘sanskaar kendras’.

Winner of the President’s Police Medal For Distinguished Service, Singh retired as Inspector General last August.

When asked why he joined the Hindu outfit, Singh replied: “I used to see how the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) functioned. How it worked without making too much noise and tried to make people left behind to join the mainstream.”

“The most important aspect that I was impressed by the VHP was that it always puts the nation first. Then, sewa (service) is also an important aspect… I thought I too could do it. When I was part of the police force, our responsibility was to maintain law and order and work towards controlling crime. There was a code of conduct, which we had to follow. Now, I am free and can work for the society,” the retired officer added.

The VHP’s Kashi prant comprises 18 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi and Prayagraj.

Singh was appointed DIG, Prayagraj (Range), in July 2019 after serving as DIG (Kumbh Mela) the same year. He was promoted to the post of IG, Prayagraj (Range) on January 1, 2020. He served in Prayagraj till October 2021 and was transferred to Ayodhya (Range) where he worked till June, 2022. He retired as IG, PAC (Headquarters) in August, 2022.

Speaking about Singh’s appointment, VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal said the reason for his appointment was his “dedication towards the Hindu religion”.
“He (Singh) said that he has served as a public servant, and now wants to work with the VHP for the national religion. He proposed himself and asked for responsibility so that he can work for the Hindu community and the country,” said Bansal.

Singh was appointed VHP Kashi prant chief on January 1. Singh emphasized on his planning to give efforts to boost the present young Hindu generation including the next generation.
