Assam: 11 Christian tribal families convert to Hinduism in Jagiroad.

Krishna Dhar | HENB | Guwahati | Feb 28, 2023:: 11 Christian tribal families converted to Hinduism in Jagiroad of Assam Gobha Deuraja Raj Parishad on February 27. 43 people from 11 families of Tiwasong who earlier converted to the Christian religion again converted to Hinduism. The organiser of the program, Jursing Borodoloi said, “We have already conducted Abhiyan and residents of 2 villages in Kamrup have come back to their original Hindu religion. Today Gobha Deuraja Raj Parishad has organised a programme named Tiwa Bhasha Sanskriti aru Udyoga Parva. 11 families (43 people) of Tiwasong who earlier converted to the Christian religion, come back to the Tiwa community (Hindu religion) as per their wish.”

Adopted Christianity  by allurements
Gobha Devaraj Raj Parishad organized a program called Tiwa Bhasha Sanskriti Aru Udyog Parv on Monday. In the program, 43 people from 11 families converted back to Hinduism. He had first adopted Christianity. The organizer of the program, Jersing Borodolai, said that under the campaign, the people of both the villages have come back to their original Hindu religion. The reconverted people in their original Sanatan Hindu faith told, “We adopted  Christianity as they were allured by the local churches and no we are returning home without any pressure.”

11 The family’s homecoming hit the headlines
The conversion took place in Jagiroad (Marigaon) constituency. After which the homecoming of 11 families of Assam has come into limelight. Let us tell you that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been continuously giving statements regarding the return of Hindus to their homes. CMs are often vocal about Christian and Muslim conversions.

Impressed by the Chief Minister’s policy, returned home
BJP MLA Piyush Hazarika has claimed that 43 people have returned to Hinduism after being influenced by the policies of the Himanta Biswa government.

Chhattisgarh: 36 Christian families returned to Hindu faith, RSS women priests reach out, royal washes feet.

Suvarna Pandye | HENB | Jashpur Nagar | Feb 28, 2023:: 36 Catholic tribal families took part in a series of rituals — starting with a shuddhikaran (or purification) — after which they were said to have reconverted to Hinduism in jashpur of Chhattisgarh on Feb 21 as reports came in.

The ‘Ghar Wapsi’ (return to the fold or reconversion) ceremony, organised by the local RSS unit’s Dharma Jagaran Samiti saw the involvement of many Sangh volunteers, a head priest, a monk, senior RSS functionaries and members of the erstwhile local royal family of Jashpur.

An important part of the event were the women priests — locally known as mata pujaris or mother priests, these are women family members of RSS volunteers who have been made priests of small local temples by the organisation. Often the mata pujaris are the first to identify and convince people for Ghar Wapsi, said those ThePrint spoke to in the Dharma Jagaran Samiti.

Explaining how the process of Ghar Wapsi works, Kapil Shastri of Dharma Jagaran Samiti said, “We have our network at the ground level. There are small temples, locally known as dhams, in the villages. These dhams are the centres for Ghar Wapsis at the village level. In Jashpur district, we have 112 dhams that work as our primary network for Ghar Wapsi. There are different committees consisting of village men and women who work as our volunteers.”

Members of the Jashpur royal family here have been relentless in their support to the RSS and its affiliates and in aiding their Ghar Wapsi schemes.  At the event, the family’s Prabal Pratap Singh Judev washed the feet of the ‘reconverts’ as they were welcomed back into the fold. This symbolic gesture was started by his late father, Dilip Singh Judev, who stood as an iconic figure to reconvert the tribal people in to Sanatan Hindu fold taking them from the grab of Christian missionaries.
