Hindu Rally in front of White HouseMitra Chandra | Washington | 11 April 2013 :: Today on The Bangladesh Hindu – Buddhist – Christian Unity Council’s USA Chapter has given a memorandum to stop the Persecution upon Bangladesh Minorities to the White House authorities at the end of an street agitation here to  draw the kind attention of Barrack Hussein Obama, the President of USA on Thrusday  in Washington DC.

In this protest rally, the members of Sarbojanin Puja Udjapon Samity, Shri Krishna Bhaktasangha, United Hindu Parishad, Sanatan Sangha,  Harinama Sankirtanasagha, some other Organisations and Hindu activists gathered to join the agitation coming from different corners of USA, viz.  New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut,  Massachusetts, Delaware  Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina  and Georgia.

Protesting against the rise in violence against minorities in Bangladesh, Hindus of Bangladeshi-origin have gathered outside the White House here, asking US President Barack Obama to protect them and enlist radical Jamat-e-Islami as a foreign terrorist group. After the pronouncement of War Criminal Sayedee’s hanging order as  a post Shabagh effect, Hindus-Buddhists in Bangladesh have been thrown into  a new fire place of Islamic torture.

Raising slogans like “We do not want Talibanisation of Bangladesh” and “Save Hindus”, Bangladeshi American Hindus in a memorandum asked Obama to save the religious minorities of Bangladesh and enlist “Jamat-e-Islami, Bangladesh” as a foreign terrorist organisation.

“We are urging everyone to be united in outrage and by humanity and do all you can to save the endangered minorities of Bangladesh,” the memorandum said as the protestors demanded enactment of hate crime laws by the Bangladeshi Government.

They also demanded establishment of a monitoring cell with prosecutorial authority to monitor, prevent, and prosecute all communal incidents; and creation of a minority welfare ministry with authority to create a special police force drawn from the minority populace. The peaceful protest rally was organized by the supported Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, with support from various other organizations like Hindu American Foundation and the Indian American Intellectual Forum.

“Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, USA is calling upon the civilized world to come to the protection of these innocent and peaceful people who have committed no other wrongs than belonging to faiths other than what the terrorists would choose for them.They can count on no one and go nowhere,” the statement said.

In the memorandum handed over to the President of US, it is mentioned that in the history of 42 years old Bangladesh, thousands of temples were vandalized,  wealth of minorities were looted, women and children were  raped, but not any thing could be  trialed before Court of Law to give them Justice. It is also told that over 1 crore minority people of Bangladesh, maximum of them are Hindus, were compelled to leave their Motherland in an unbearable situations have been being created by the Islamist perpetrators of any colour any party.

The organizers of the rally also demanded introduction of  Hate Crime Law in Bangladesh along with establishment of  Minority Watch, Welfare and Protection Cell and Judiciary Investigation Committee for giving punishment to the persecutors upon minorities in Bangladesh.  The memorandum has also demanded a special session and hearing in the US Congress to verify the injustice and persecution upon Bangladeshi Hindus, Buddhists and other minorities.

Meikhtila, Myanmar | Fri Mar 22, 2013 :: Unrest between Buddhists and Muslims in central Myanmar has reduced neighbourhoods to ashes and stoked fears that last year’s sectarian bloodshed is spreading into the country’s heartland in a test of Asia’s newest democracy.

Buildings in Meikhtila were still burning early on Friday and agitated Buddhist crowds roamed the otherwise near-deserted streets after three days of turbulence, said Reuters reporters in the city 540 km (336 miles) north of the commercial capital Yangon.

Five people, including a Buddhist monk, have been killed and dozens wounded since Wednesday, state media reported. Other authorities put the death toll at 10 or higher.

The unleashing of ethnic hatred, suppressed during 49 years of military rule that ended in March 2011, is challenging the reformist government of one of Asia’s most ethnically diverse countries.

Jailed dissidents have been released, a free election held and censorship lifted in Myanmar’s historic democratic transition. But the government has faced mounting criticism over its failure to stop the bloodshed between Buddhists and Muslims.

“I am really sad over what happened here because this is not just happening to one person. It’s affecting all of us,” said Maung Maung, a Buddhist ward leader in Meikhtila.

Hundreds of Muslims have fled their homes to shelter at a sports stadium, said local officials. The unrest is a bloody reprise of last year’s violence in Rakhine State in western Myanmar, which officially killed 110 people and left 120,000 people homeless, most of them stateless Rohingya Muslims.

BURNING MOSQUE, ARMED RESIDENTS

Locals complained there were too few police in this city of about 180,000 people to subdue the unrest. It erupted after an argument between a Buddhist couple and the Muslim owners of a gold shop spiralled into a riot involving hundreds of people, said police.

Reuters saw some Meikhtila residents arming themselves with knives and sticks in an eerie echo of the Rakhine violence in 2012, when pitched battles between the two communities later morphed into orchestrated attacks on Muslim communities by organised gangs of ethnic Rakhine Buddhists.

The United Nations warned the sectarian unrest could endanger a fragile reform programme launched after Myanmar’s quasi-civilian government replaced a decades-old military dictatorship in 2011.

“Religious leaders and other community leaders must also publicly call on their followers to abjure violence, respect the law and promote peace,” Vijay Nambiar, U.N. special adviser of the secretary-general, said in a statement.

Myanmar is a predominantly Buddhist country, but about 5 percent of its 60 million people are Muslims. There are large and long-established communities in Yangon and Mandalay, Myanmar’s two largest cities, where tensions are simmering.

“Everyone is in shock here. We never expected this to happen,” said a Muslim teacher in Mandalay, requesting anonymity.

Rumours that violent agitators were heading for the city had set its Muslim community on edge, he said. Buddhist monks known for their anti-Islamic views last year staged several street protests in Mandalay.

In Meikhtila, at least one mosque, an Islamic religious school, several shops and a government office were set alight, said a fire service official, who declined to be named. Reuters saw both Buddhist and Muslim homes burned.

Sectarian unrest is common in central Myanmar, although reports were stifled under the military dictatorship.

Three people died in Sinbyukyun in 2006 when Buddhists attacked homes and shops belonging to Muslims and ethnic Indians, according to a U.S. diplomatic cable.

“The incident reveals underlying tense inter-ethnic relations in the heartland,” said the cable, which also referenced similar communal riots in Kyaukse, a town near Meikhtila, in 2003. (Writing by Andrew R.C. Marshall; Editing by Jason Szep)

Now, the Buddhist Teachers in Southern Thailand have become the series target of Malay Muslim militants forcing many to seek transfers fearing further attacks.

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra  visited Muslim majority southern Thailand on Thursday on 13th Dec 2012 , after horrific attacks this week in which six people died, including an 11-month-old baby and two teachers, who are increasingly seen as targets. The most recent killings caused the southern teachers’ union to stage a two-day strike last week, shutting 1,300 public schools.

Prime Minister of Thailand, Yingluck Shinawatra and the head of the Thai Army visiteof Thailand accordingly the area on Thursday, although Human Rights Watch said insurgents circulated leaflets during their visit that promised further school attacks. Yingluck met teachers and security officials during her visit. “Whatever happens, children need to have a safe place to learn. I thank teachers for having the courage to teach and I will ask for reinforcements and extra troops to ensure their security,” Yingluck told reporters.

Attacks on Buddhist schoolteachers by Muslim insurgents in southern Thailand have escalated terribly in recent days, like last week, when men with M-16s walked into a school cafeteria in Pattani Province, separated out two Buddhist instructors and killed them on the spot. One of them, the school principal, was shot in the head at point-blank range.

With teachers becoming targets of militant attacks, a large number of Buddhist educators in the troubled deep South have applied for transfers. Their morale is at its lowest point following reports that they have become a new target group in the southern insurgency, Deputy Education Minister Sermsak Pongpanich said recently. Statistics show that 80 per cent of the roughly 150 teachers killed in the violence in the area over the past eight years were Buddhists, he said.

More than 5,000 people have been killed since 2004 in the three Muslim majority provinces (Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat)in the country’s south in the Buddhist majority country. Most attacks have been blamed on Muslim insurgents.

Teachers at 1,200 schools in South Thailand have decided to suspend classes today and tomorrow following a spate of attacks by insurgents. The decided to suspend classes after meeting school administrators on Wednesday on 12th Dec 2012.

Car bombs, home-made grenades, assassinations and arson have become part of daily life in southern Thailand since a wave of separatist and sectarian violence began there in 2004.

The closure of all schools in 10 secondary educational service areas will allow security forces to review their performance, lay out plans to protect teachers, and hunt down the assailants, Boonsom Tongsriprai, the chairman of Confederation of Teachers in the Southern Border Provinces said.

The confederation called an urgent meeting with school administrators in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat the three Muslim majority provinces yesterday after fresh attacks.

Khru Ya, a retired teacher in Pattani, and a Muslim, told The Bangkok Post: “There is a saying among insurgents: ‘Get Buddhists, gain merit.’ They believe that if they kill Buddhists, they will go to heaven.”

An investigative report released Monday on 10th Dec by Human Rights Watch demanded that the insurgents end their school attacks and called for added security measures by the Thai government.

“Insurgents in southern Thailand who execute teachers show utter depravity and disregard for humanity,” said Brad Adams, Asia director for Human Rights Watch (HRW). “These attacks harm not only teachers and schools, but the Muslim students, their families, and the broader Muslim community the insurgents claim to represent.”

Teachers in the Thai-Malaysian border areas have asked for security cameras to be installed at their schools, the HRW. report said, along with increased hazard pay for educators and government compensation for the relatives of victimized teachers.

More than 50 children have been killed and some 340 injured in the provinces bordering Malaysia since 2004, according to the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

UNICEF’s representative in Thailand, Bijaya Rajbhandari, called the attacks “a tragic, senseless and unacceptable act”.

Successive governments of Thailand (a Buddhist Country) have spent more than 160 billion Thai Baht (1.00 THB = 1.79 INR / 1.00 USD = 30.59 THB) in the past eight years to quell the violence but the Islamic insurgency has rumbled on only to annihilate Buddhist community people in of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat provinces in order to make a sovereign Muslim region there.

Bengali Speaking Hindus – Buddhists are not the Rohingya Muslims. Save Myanmar Hindus from the onslaught of Rohingya Muslims.

The hell-bent Islam is disturbing the peace, destroying the civilization and degenerating the human ethos all along. From Myanmar to Michigan, Xinjiang to Rakhaine,  Delhi to Detroit, London to Leh, Asia to America, Europe to Australia, Antarctica to Africa, the carcinogenic Jihadi scars are manifesting its unbound growth all over the human society in a frame of fatal death trap. The Arakan region of Myanmar is also severely epitomized with a Jihadi upsurge against Burmese (Myanmar) State by the Bangali (Bengali) speaking Rohingya Muslims originally hailed from the nearby Chittagong region of Bangladesh. Over the last 200 years these Rohingya ethnic groups have been trying to gain their Islamic supremacy over the local Burmese Buddhist people. Consequent conflicts never end and under a demand of citizenship for all Rohingya people and the autonomous council for all recent intruders from Bangladesh, situation worsened. Communal clashes between Rohingya Muslims and the Rakhaine Buddhists marked many more spots in the culpable calendar.

Definitely, the bouts of ethnic violence in the Rakhine region of Myanmar since the middle of this year have once again triggered the attempted exodus of Rohingyas into Bangladesh. But,  the Myanmar government continues to take the stand to deny citizenship to the Rohingyas, claiming that their ancestors, originating from areas now part of Bangladesh, unlawfully trespassed into and settled in the Rakhine region. On the other hand the Government of Bangladesh argues that it is an internal problem of Myanmar, and a more apathetic Bangladeshi policy regarding the Rohingyas would simply instigate a governance failure in Myanmar. Within these turmoil, the unrest from both the Buddhist nationalist citizens and the subversive Rohingya non-citizen Muslims, have chanced the Jihadi out cry in an international level.

The Islamic lobby in US, UK and India has set up a Rohingya Council to legitimize the claim of Citizenship of illegal Bangla speaking Rohingya Muslims in Arakan-Rakhine region or to rehabilitate the uprooted  Rohingya Muslims in India, USA, Canada, UK or in other non-Islamic states. In India, Hyderabad and Delhi are now being populated by these illegal Rohingya Muslims. In very recent Jamiat e Ulema Hind (India) urged Islamic nations to help Rohingyas’ cause. but never requested Arab, Pakistan or Bangladesh to resettle these Rohingya Muslim people in their Islamic land.

Interestingly, Bangladesh is not ready to return back any single Rohingya Muslim in Bangladesh land, rather it is hinted that the Rohingya Bengali speaking Muslims are getting arms-ammunitions-funds from Bangladesh based Islamic Jihadi groups to set a Jihadi regime in Rakhine state in Myanmar. However, the Buddhist people and the Buddhist monks are fighting their best to restore and retain a Buddhist-Burmese culture  in the Arakan-Rakhine area. In Yangon, the   Buddhist monks marched in roads to thwart Islamic planto make Arakan-Rakhine area as a IMF (Islamic Menace Free) region. Communal violence between Bangla speaking Rohinga Muslims and the Burmese speaking Buddhists are posed as a regular occurrence in Arakan. A state of Emergency has been declared in Rakhine State  by the President of Myanmar as on 10-6-2012.

But, out of this communal clashes, the Bengali speaking Hindu and Buddhist people in the Arakan-Rakhaine areas are being victimized  grossly. These Bangali (Bengali) speaking Hindus and Buddhist are quite different from Rohingya Muslims. Though both of these two different communities speak in a peculiar Bangla dialect akin to “Chittgang Bangla’, they are far different in their cultural and ethical values. While the Rohingya Muslims are subversive and Jihadi, the Bengali speaking Hindus and Buddhist are Nationalist, loyal to Myanmar Constitution and obviously peace-loving. But, out of a great mistake the Rohingyas and Bangali Hindus are being kept in same Refugee camps, where the later Banglai Hindus are being  onslaught of Rohingya Muslims, the Bangali Hindu women and girls are being raped or pregnant by Islamist Rohingyas.

Report narrates that: Ninety eight Bengali speaking – Non Rohingya – Hindus were sent to refugee camps treating them as Rohingya Muslim, but those 98 Hindu refugees from 18 families were evacuated from Rohingya Muslim camp. 

98 people from 18 Hindu families were moved from their current shelter of Thae Chaung and Thak Kay Pron camps to Sittwe city due to increased threats by Bengali Muslim extremists after many reported rapes and attempted rapes and tortures committed by the Bengali Muslims who are majority in the camp.

The transfer was carried out by two military trucks and the Hindu refugees are now living in a Hindu temple located on Mongbagree road.

The existence of Hindu people in the Rohingya Muslim camp was first noticed by Ashin Virathu, a prominent monk from Mandalay’s famous Ma-Soe-Yin Buddhist institute. The monk expressed his concerns about the condition and suffering of the Hindu people in the wrong place. He also requested for the relocation of those people to a suitable place in a statement issued on 20th July, 2012.

It is reported that Rohingyas (Bengali Muslims) destroyed many Hindu temples during the riot. According to reliable sources, more than 40 Bangali speaking Hindus were beheaded and murdered by the same Bengali speaking RohingyaMuslim terrorists in Sittwe, Buthidaung and Maungdaw townships. However, those Hindu vict ims are not included in the government’s official death tolls of the communal riot.

This is a great misunderstanding by the Buddhist resistance force and the Myanmar State authorities to treat the Bangali speaking Hindus of the Rohingya affected regions as same with the rebellion Muslim Jihadi force. Bangali speaking Hindus in Arakan-Rakhaine areas are not Rohingya Muslims and they must be rescued from the onslaught of Rohingya Muslim rebellions and the strict state proceedings upon Bangali speaking Hindus and Buddhist.

The Bengali speaking Hindu people are again being the victims of Rohingya Muslims in both the Rohingya Refugee camps and  out of the camps, in the spate of fresh communal violence in recent days. Myanmar Govt. must look into the matter very seriously to stop any torture upon Bangali Hindu people in the Arakan-Rakhaine affected regions.

As per Myanmar Govt. statistics, “the main religions of the country are Buddhism (89.2%), Christianity (5.0%), Islam (3.8%), Hinduism (0.5%), Spiritualism (1.2%) and others (0.2%). Religious intolerance or discrimination on grounds of religion is nonexistent in the Union of Myanmar throughout its long history”. But, now the less than 1% Hindus in Myanmar are facing the threat of total extinction. 

The Myanmar Govt, Revered Aung San Suu Kyi, Revered Ashin Virathu of Ma-Soe-Yin Buddhist institute – Mandalay, the NRI – Human Rights Forums and Indian Govt. must look into the matter seriously, so that No Bangla speaking Hindu – Buddhist people can be victimized by the Rohingya Islamist nor be humiliated by state authority out of any  reluctance.

Even we don’t want to realize this simple moral: When you quarrel someone else gains. The quarrel between Tamil Hindus and Sinhala Buddhist in Sri Lank paved the way to a huge rise of Islam in Sri Lanka as a threat to a Buddhist-Hindu Culture of Sri Lanka.

Even tender children read the fables of that two cats dispute the sharing a cake, while a monkey comes to settle the matter and finally ate whole of the cake left nothing for those cats. But, the world leaders of the most revered and ancient two religions i.e. Hindu and Buddhism do not care for an unity of them to fight against those Islamic Monkeys now trying a debacle in some districts of Sri Lanka in a regular fashion.

In the month of April (2012) last there were some die hard agitations by Muslims in the suburbs of Dambulla,  Kurunegala  and in the month of May (2012) it was in Dehiwala over the disputes for renovations of Mosques, where Sri Lanka Govt. ordered to shift those impugned Mosques so erected upon sacred Buddhist places.  In the dispute over a Dambulla mosque government planed to relocate it.  It had not gone down well with Sri Lanka’s Muslims and the country’s main Muslim party in the Govt coalition, Sri Lankan Muslim Congress  protested a little bit, but the hard-liners as Sri Lankan Muslim League confronted with the Police and Administration with tooth and nail.

Rauff Hakeem, leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) told reporters that he believed President Mahinda Rajapaksa was an experienced and mature leader and so there was no question of SLMC leaving the ruling coalition.

After an unusually packed Friday prayers (on 27th April, 202)in nearby mosques at the Colombo city, hundreds of mainly Muslim young men thronged the street protesting against the shifting of the  mosque at Dambulla because it’s allegedly built on land declared sacred by Buddhists. The police and the special combat force faced many difficulties to disperse the crazy people gathered in that Save Mosque congregation.

Such type  of Islamic shows of rowdyism are becoming common in Muslim concentrated areas of   Sri Lanka. The problem is related to the growth of Muslim population in Sri Lanka in recent times. Muslim percentage 0f 7.5% in 2001 census, has crossed the limit of 10% in 2011 as reports say. But, Muslims claim that they are 17% of the total population of Srilanka and they also demand apportioned participation and reservations in Govt Administration,  Police, Military and Finance.

A news published in Colombo Telegraph in recent, narrates that: “The vast majority of the Sri Lanka island’s Muslims are the descendants of Persian and Arab traders who settled on the island. Official estimates put the Muslim population of the country at around 7 percent, although Muslims believe their share of the population is much higher, perhaps as much as 17 percent of the total population. In Sri Lanka, such numbers are important because funding from the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs is spent proportionally on each religion.”

It goes further that: “During, the 30-year civil war between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam and the central government, the island’s Muslims, though Tamil-speaking, sided with the government against the LTTE. This was in part a result of thousands of Muslims being ejected from Jaffna in the early 1990s. During the conflict, the Sinhalese Buddhist majority courted the island’s Muslims, and many Muslims rose to prominent bureaucratic positions, while a handful even served in the Sri Lankan armed forces. “

Upon such act of imprudence to prop up Islamist in Sri Lanka, the Muslim problem in the island has been grown up in such a height that may be fatal for checking a force of Quran loving fanatic people  over the Buddhist – Hindu culture in Sri Lanka including the Buddha Sasana in the State.

The Muslims of the island are now engaged into conversion activities by alluring poor Hindu-Tamil people in the island.

Imams of mosques in Ampaa’rai district are engaged in converting members of poor Tamil Saiva families to Islam with financial inducement. Poor Tamil families from Chiththa’ndi, Mu’rakkottaancheanai, Chanthive’li, Kiraan and Ko’rakkallimadu who go work in rice mills, textile shops and brick making centres owned by Muslim businessmen are being coerced with inducements from the business owners according to sources.

About seventy five Saiva families of Nainaakdu have been converted to Islam. A mosque has also been constructed at the village for the use of converted Hindu-Tamil people.

Not only that, Tamil girls who are employed in textile shops owned by Muslims along Kalmunai-Akkaraippaththu road are also allegedly being sexually abused and used for prostitution, according to a report published in TamilNet.

This nature of Muslims towards Non-Muslims has been propounded by the orthodox Islamic views through their practice of Quranic doctrines.

Police in Akkaraipaththu and Kalmunai have failed to take action against complaints made related to prostitution as the Police officers are also being allegedly bought over by financial inducements from the Muslim organizers of the prostitution rings, local sources said.

Today the Hindu-Tamils are being victimized by the Sri Lankan Muslims.  They are being converted into Islam by allurement. The Saiva -Tamil girls are victim of prostitution by an Islamic conspiracy. But, these also be a problem of Buddhist people in Sri Lanka. An upsurging Islam in Sri Lanka cannot be trusted anyway.

Sinhala-Buddhist people and Tamil-Hindu people in Sri Lanka must be united to fight against Islamic expansionism in this island. Lord Buddha, the principal embodiment of Bodhi, is highly esteemed by Hindu people as an incarnation of Bhagavan Vishnu. For thousand of years these two ancient Dharma-Dhamma-belief fulfilled the space of spirituality all the time. With this natural bond, they have to come close together to fight against a deadly Arab doctrine through eliminating  all superficial differences.

Through this page, we expect a great initiatives of all Respected Buddhist Acharyas including Dalai Lama and The Hindu Saints including Shankaracharyas to draw a active strategy to maintain peace and amity in Indian sub-continent without any interference of brutal Islamic Jihad so far.

We also advocate for restoration of Bamiyan Buddha Statutes immediately there. These world famous Buddhist sculptures were destroyed by Taliban Muslims in Afghanistan in March, 2001. These dangerous people will destroy all non-Muslim culture everywhere, if they get any chance. Islam is dangerous. we have to understand it and must fight Islam unitedly.

US Buddhist and Hindu Organisations have successfully organized Protest Rally over Ethnic cleansing in Bangladesh.

HE ] in Cox’s Bazaar’s Ramu Upazila early on Sunday in one of the worst religious attacks in Bangladesh apparently triggered by a Facebook posting allegedly defaming the Quran. 

Eyewitnesses and police said the assailants set fire to at least six Buddhist temples and nearly 20 homes and looted and damaged more than a hundred others until 3am in the hate attack. 

Cox’s Bazaar district’s Superintendent of Police Selim Mohammed Jahangir acknowledged the violence in the Buddhist-dominated locality. He said around 3am situation in the Ramu district headquarters was under control but in areas on the fringe, tension was palpable.

COX’S BAZAR, Bangladesh (AP) — Thousands of Bangladeshi Muslims angry over an alleged derogatory photo of the Islamic holy book Quran on Facebook set fires in at least 10 Buddhist temples and 40 homes near the southern border with Myanmar, authorities said Sunday.

A mob comprises of around 25,000 people, angered by a photograph posted in Facebook, torched dozens of homes of the Buddhist community and vandalised six 100-year-old pagodas as a sectarian violence broke out at Merunloa village in Ramu upazila here Saturday night.

“Police patrols have been strengthened in the Buddhist-majority areas,” SP Jahangir added. 

Paramilitary BGB personnel have been called out to restore order in the affected areas, Suresh Barua, teacher at a local school, said. 

Several houses and Mithhachharhi Bonbihar, some five kilometres from Ramu Sadar Upazila, were set on fire around 3:30am, said General Secretary of Ramu Upazila Juba League Nitish Barua.

A 100-foot high under-construction Buddha sculpture was also ravaged in Bimukti Bidarshan Babna Centre in the locality, he added. 

Gias Uddin Ziku, Office Secretary of Cox’s Bazaar district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Chairman of Jhilangja Union, said he dispersed Jamaat-e-Islami activists who had gathered around localities of ethnic minorities. He also said he had informed the police of the incident. 

Local people said followers of an Islamist party led by several leaders took out a procession around 10pm on Saturday alleging that a photo was uploaded on the Facebook to defame the holy book. 

At a subsequent rally, they claimed a youth by the name of Uttam Barua had pasted the purportedly offensive photo in the social networking website and demanded his arrest. 

Another militant procession was taken out that marched down towards the Barua Parha around 11:30pm and some youths from the procession set some homes of the Buddhists on fire. 

From then on, 15 homes, three temples including ‘Saada Ching’ and ‘Laal Ching’ were burned to the ground, Dipak Barua, a local, said. 

Police, local administration officials and public representatives were trying to quell the arson and destruction that continued at least until 1:30am. 

A local journalist, who was hiding with family in the neighbourhood that came under attack, told bdnews24.com the Cheranghata Barakyang Temple close to his home was set alight. He said the flames died out around 2:45am. 

Also, Ramu Maitree Bihar, Saada Chinglaal, Ramy Sina Bihar and Jadiparha Bouddha Bihar were torched, ransacked and looted. 

At least 10 Buddhist villages were attacked and Purbo Merongloa locality that had around 20 houses was burned. 

Chairman of Ramu Upazila Council Sohel Sarwar Kajal said efforts were on to quell the tension. 

Several Facebook users, meanwhile, said Uttam Barua, the Ramu youth being accused of Quran defamation, did not post the photo deemed to be offensive to Islam. They said Uttam was tagged in the photo from a Facebook ID called ‘Insult Allah’ and so he was in no way responsible. 

Recently, there was much hullabaloo was created after Rohingya Muslims tried to cross the border into Bangladesh fleeing the religious riot in Myanmar’s Buddhist-majority Rakhine state. A section of the civil society in Bangladesh reacted to the government refusing the refugees entry. The government believes communal forces were behind this incident. 

[So. it is established that the anti Buddhist - anti Hindu Force in Bangladesh premeditatedly attacked the peace loving minorities in BD for an ethnic cleansing with the issues of Myanmar Muslim torture or desecration of Quran in very heinous Islamic attitude. Same time a portion of BD media and political part are shedding their tears for such an attack upon BD minorities for a habitual activities of majority Muslims there. All concerned in Bangladesh are supporting the total removal of BD Hindu-Buddhists-Christians-Other minorities from that Islamic land.  Then what is the remedial measures? 1. Protest vehemently to BD Govt. with strictures. 2. Direct intervention of Respected Dalai Lama in this matter. What he is doing right now in his fortified seat in  Dharmshala (India) with huge wealth and international fame?  3. Stop relations with Muslims treating them as the supporters of a most uncivilized and communal groups. 4. Attack Mosques and Muslim in Buddhist Countries, as a tremendous retaliation to sensitize the insane Islamic zealots as the last measure. At least Myanmar and Sri Lanka should start actions. April 01, 2012 ||  Hat Yai, Thailand :: Suspected Muslim insurgents staged the most deadly coordinated attacks in years in Thailand’s restive south, killing 14 people and injuring 340 on Saturday (31 March 2012) with car bombs that targeted shoppers and a high-rise hotel frequented by foreign tourists. 


A first batch of explosives planted inside a parked pickup truck ripped through an area of restaurants and shops in a busy area of Yala city, a commercial hub of Thailand’s southern provinces, district police chief Col. Kritsada Kaewchandee said. 

About 20 minutes later, just as onlookers gathered at the blast site, a second car bomb exploded, causing the majority of casualties. Eleven people were killed and 110 wounded. 

More than 5,000 people have been killed in Thailand’s three southernmost provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala since an Islamist insurgency flared in January 2004. 

“This is the worst attack in the past few years,” said Col. Pramote Promin, deputy spokesman of a regional security agency. 

“The suspected insurgents were targeting people’s lives,” he said. They chose “a bustling commercial area, so they wanted to harm people.” 

Most attacks are small bombings or drive-by shootings that target soldiers, police and symbols of authority, but suspected insurgents have also staged large attacks in commercial areas. 

A blast also occurred on Saturday at a high-rise hotel in the city of Hat Yai, in the nearby province of Songkhla. Officials had initially attributed that blast to a gas leak, saying it was unrelated to the attacks blamed on insurgents. But after inspecting the hotel’s underground parking lot, authorities found a severely damaged sedan and a hole created by the explosion’s impact. 

The midday explosion at the 405-room Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel, where many Malaysian and Singaporean tourists spend their weekends, killed three people and caused about 230 injuries, mostly from smoke inhalation, said a police officer, Lt. Puwadon Wiriyawarangkun. 

Regional police chief Lt. Gen. Jakthip Chaijinda said the Hat Yai incident “is likely related to what happened in Yala and might have been plotted by the same group of insurgents.” 

The police said the blast at the underground level of the hotel ripped the building’s cooking gas pipeline, causing a fire that sent smoke spiraling into the upper floors and trapping many people in their rooms until rescuers came. One of the fatalities was identified as a Malaysian tourist. 

A McDonald’s restaurant on the hotel’s ground floor appeared to have suffered heavy damage from the blast. 

The hotel was also targeted in 2006, when four people were killed by six bombs planted on Hat Yai’s main street. Hat Yai and the rest of Songkhla province have generally been spared the violence that has wracked Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala. 

The insurgents have made no public pronouncements but are thought to be fighting for an independent Muslim state. The area used to be an Islamic sultanate until it was annexed by Thailand in the early 20th century. 

Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani are the only Muslim-dominated provinces in the predominantly Buddhist nation of Thailand. 

Muslims in the area have long complained of discrimination by the central government.

Maldives: Islamists Storm National Museum, Destroy Entire Collection of 12th Century Buddhist Statues…

Nobody will be able to see this priceless Buddhist Sculpture anymore in Maldives.

MALE — At the Maldives’ National Museum, smashed Buddhist statues are testament to the rise of Islamic extremism and Taliban-style intolerance in a country famous as a laid-back holiday destination.

On Tuesday, as protesters backed by mutinous police toppled president Mohamed Nasheed, a handful of men stormed the Chinese-built museum and destroyed its display of priceless artefacts from the nation’s pre-Islamic era.

“They have effectively erased all evidence of our Buddhist past,” a senior museum official told AFP at the now shuttered building in the capital Male, asking not to be named out of fear for his own safety.

“We lost all our 12th century statues. They were made of coral stone and limestone. They are very brittle and there is no way we can restore them,” he explained.

“I wept when I heard that the entire display had gone. We are good Muslims and we treated these statues only as part of our heritage. It is not against Islam to display these exhibits,” he said.

Five people have since been arrested after they returned the following day to smash the CCTV cameras, he said.

The authorities have banned photography of the damage, conscious that vandalism of this kind which echoes the 2001 destruction of the Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan by the Taliban is damaging for the nation’s image.

The gates of the two-storeyed grey building, which opened in 2010, are padlocked and an unarmed guard keeps watch.

The Maldives, a collection of more than 1,100 coral-fringed islands surrounded by turquoise seas, is known as a “paradise” holiday destination that draws hundreds of thousands of travellers and honeymooners each year.

Visitors’ contact with the local population is deliberately kept at bay, however, with most foreigners simply transferring from the main international airport directly to their five-star resorts on outlying islands.

Few have any idea they are visiting a country of 330,000 Muslims with no religious freedom, where women can be flogged for extramarital sex and consuming alcohol is illegal for locals.

Islam is the official religion of the Maldives and open practice of any other religion is forbidden and liable to prosecution.

The religious origins of the Maldivian people are not clearly established, but it is believed that a Buddhist king converted to Islam in the 12th century.

Thereafter, the country practised a mostly liberal form of the religion, but more fundamentalist interpretations have spread with the arrival of money and ultra-conservative Salafist preachers from the Middle East.

In 2007, following a bombing that wounded a dozen foreign tourists, the former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom banned head-to-toe coverings for women as a sign of his intent to battle conservative Islamic thinking.

At the museum, another official said that fundamentalists had threatened to attack the museum on previous occasions unless it withdrew the Buddhist display.

The country’s ultra-conservative Islamic group, the Adhaalath Party, condemned the attack, but said they remained opposed to Nasheed’s decision to accept three monuments from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

“Our constitution does not allow idols and that is why we objected to the monuments,” General Secretary Mohamed Muizzu said, referring to the gifts to mark a South Asian summit held in November in the Maldives.

The monuments, which included one of pillar featuring Buddhist motifs, and which had been on display in the southernmost island of Addu, have all since been vandalised.

Islam is the only official religion of the Maldives and open practice of any other religion is strictly forbidden like other Islamic countries in the cresent world. The natural beauty of Maldives could not able to bring any change of the barbaric Islamic Mind.(AFP/File, Ishara S.Kodikara).

The Adhaalath party supports new president Mohamed Waheed, who Nasheed accuses of taking part in a coup, and is due to join the new government.

Waheed called the museum attack “totally unacceptable” and denied there was religious violence in his country.

Former foreign minister Ahmed Naseem disagreed.

He said extremists were thriving in the Maldives and that they were partly responsible for the toppling of Nasheed and the installation of Waheed. “What we had was a military coup backed by religious extremists,” he said.

“There is a strong influence of Islamic fundamentalists in the country and they will get stronger,” Naseem told AFP. “These groups are funded from abroad. “This threat is not only to us, but the rest of the world as well.”

The moderate Nasheed, who was educated in Sri Lanka and Britain, was consistently accused of being under the control of Jews and Christians by religious opposition parties now linked to the government

There were also demonstrations over proposals from the transport ministry to allow direct flights from Israel.

“We strongly condemn the anti-Semitic words and the other commentary recently,” US assistant secretary of state for South Asian affairs Robert Blake said during a visit to Male on Saturday.

“Under President Nasheed, the Maldives tried to improve relations with Israel and showed what a progressive country they were and we really commend them for that.”
