The ceremony is the beginning of a series of programmes to be held all through the year. National and international dignitaries attended the inaugural ceremony of this humanitarian organisation.

The organisation was bestowed with Banga Bibhushan for social service in 2015.

Bharat Sevashram Sangha was founded by Pranabananda Maharaj on the day of Maghi Purnima in 1917, in Faridpur in Bangladesh. Today it is one of the biggest social service organisations in India.

Bharat Sevashram Sangha founder Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavanandaji Maharaj lived in Kolkata since 1924 upto 8th January 1941 when he breathed last in Sangha HQ at 211 Rashbehari Avenue, Kolkata- 70 019.

Terming tolerance as the need of the hour, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said that no religion teaches one to be intolerant and that Hinduism with its message to respect all has evolved into a “universal religion”.

“We must be broad minded. No religion has taught us to be intolerant. Hinduism is a universal religion with its broadness and teachings to respect people belonging to all other faiths,” Banerjee said inaugurating the centenary celebration of Bharat Sevashram Sangha.

“India’s culture gives the lesson of unity in diversity irrespective of caste, creed and religion,” she said.

The CM said that the century old tradition of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha in helping the people in distress, has earned the humanitarian organisation enormous goodwill in the country and abroad.

“We are proud of being able to confer ‘Banga Bibhushan’ on this respectable organisation for social service in 2015,” the Chief Minister said while pledging all help and cooperation to the organisation.

Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Belur Ramakrishna Math and Mission lighted the holy oil lamp amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns and praised the activities of Bharat Sevashram Sangha through this span of 100 years in his blessings.

Speaking on the occasion, Bangladesh Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan also lauded the Bharat Sevashram Sangha for its social work in the neighbouring country, especially during flood and cyclones in past years.

Khan recalled memories of his association with Sangha’s service to humanity on various occasions in Bangladesh.

WB Panchayet Raj Minister Shri Subrata Mukherjee also attended the function and pledged WB Govt’s full support for the philanthropic and outstanding services given by the Sangha monks and volunteers.

The Bharat Sevashram Sangha General Secretary Swami Biswatmananda Maharaj said the centenary celebration attended by the national and international dignitaries, was the beginning of a series of programmes to be held throughout the year.

Though, Banerjee had in a tweet conveyed today best wishes to the people of all communities on the occasion of ‘Harmony Day’ and best of luck for the students appearing in Madhaymik exam, but she did not tweeted or posted anything in facebook about this great event of Bharat Sevashram Sangha Centenary Inauguration Programme in Netaji Indoor Stadium on in the same day. But, the social media friendly WB CM always highlights her public programmes in her twitter handle at @MamataOfficial or in her FB page at http://www.facebook.com/MamataBanerjeeOfficial. She also tweeted her programme with Tipu Sultan Mosque Imam as “Today, I was in New Town to inaugurate the newly-built 3rd Haj Tower and other projects”on January 28. This Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque, Nurar Rehman Barkati was dropped from today’s programme finally, after a rigorous Hindu resentment for his communal records.

Thousands of Sangha devotees and supporters filled up the stadium with enthusiasm and joyous mood.

Why Hindu organisation consider to call anti Hindu people in their any programs. Is it really necessary to call these type of people?
