Hording in Prayagraj Kumbh 2019 on Ram Temple
Nelanshu Shukla | InToday Digital Lucknow | Jan 17, 2019:: Ahead of the Dharm Sansad in Prayagraj, sadhus have criticised the Narendra Modi government for failing to build the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. They have threatened not to vote for the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the upcoming general elections.
Speaking to India Today TV, Mahant Prem Giri from Juna Akhada said, “We voted for the BJP because of the Ram Mandir issue but this government has failed to do anything. Their party leaders took our votes on the name of Lord Ram but are now saying that the matter will be settled in the Supreme Court. We will look for an alternate option if no step is taken by this government to fulfil the promise. If a decision can be taken in a day on providing reservation to the general category, then why a law cannot be enacted for the temple in Ayodhya.”
Ram Chandra Das, who belongs to the Digambar Akhada, said, “This government has played with the sentiments of sadhus. It is quite clear that the BJP in only interested in playing politics on the Ram Mandir issue only to get votes. The seers will not vote for the current government in the Lok Sabha elections. We will only vote for the party which respects our sentiments instead of making statements.”
Mahant Someshwaranand Brahmachari, secretary of the Panchangi Akhada, said, “The Ayodhya tittle suit issue is constantly being delayed in court. We had a lot of expectations from the Modi government but it’s quite clear that no decision will come on the Ram Mandir issue before the elections. We can extend support to some other party now but the final decision will be taken in the two-day dharm sansad which is being organised from January 31 till February 1.”
Meanwhile, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has started preparing for the biggest congregation of sants during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
Speaking to India Today TV, the VHP leader Champat Rai said, “We are making preparations so that 5,000 sants from across the country can attend the dharm sansad. We will continue to demand that the central government enacts a law for Ram Mandir in Prayagraj. The Supreme Court has not time to read the documents belonging to this case. The prominent sadhus from all 13 akhadas are going to decide on the Ayodhya issue. We will follow the instructions given by them in the meeting.”
Meanwhile, a five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court will be hearing the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit on January 29.
